2017-18 State of Russian Ladies skating

Maria is getting very high marks. Will keep doing the ugly tano because she’s not penalized for it. Better get used to it.😐

At Oly and BESP I also noticed commentators were mentioning her ugly arm position. But you and they sound like she is doing it because she likes it. She does it because it's one of the bullets. I'm sure she'll be happy to not doing this. But for now she has to milk each point. And why she's not penalized? Her gliding on the ice is one of the best after Carolina's. And still she gets THE LOWEST PCS (apart from Wakaba, she would have had more PC scores If she was clean) 68.69.

She gets low PCS because she is boring and her gliding is not very good, she has average skating skills.

A chance for a Russian sweep of the podium at Olympics. Absolutely. Maria is getting very high marks. Will keep doing the ugly tano because she’s not penalized for it.

I think the judges are dinging her PCS and GOE for the excessive tanos.

I also finished to watch all the junior ladies and my thoughts are as following:
Trusova needs to work on her musicality, she doesn't skate at all on the music, especially during her free program
Kostornaya didn't have the best jumps today, but overall she is the most artistic and balanced of all the junior Russian ladies. I like her spins.
Tarakanova I like her powerful, expressive style, but I feel that sometimes she needs to temper herself and to polish the movements... and also work on the flip.. it looks really scary.
Panenkova I don't get her programs, she looks like a desperate housewife. She has to find her own tricks in order to stand out among the others.

You're getting picky. What a royal person you are! You can't be pleased! 😕

Yeees, I'm critical because I know that they can do even better. In fact, I like all these junior ladies.

Best JGP event I’ve ever seen. They even turned Ted into a babbling fan boy. Sometimes it’s alright just to have fun and recognize the courage, talent, and determination it takes to not only get to JGPF but to do the best you can given the weight of the moment. Let me say this...I’m a bigger fan of each girl than I was a week ago and I think they all did really well.

Just finished watching JGPF ladies, and I gotta say, Trusova skates like a BOSS. No, she's not the most expressive or graceful, but gosh, she is fierce. I also like how she doesn't seem intimidated by Eteri at all. I hope she stays healthy b/c I think she will be a real threat in the years to come.

The same impression here on that boss thing. She's very small & child-like physically still but I think that her jump technique bodes well as for keeping it in the future. Flying sit spin is also very impressive. Her -3Lo combo is better than that of Zagitova.

I have always had a love of Russia. Whether it was dancing with their beautiful dancers, getting a kiss on the cheek from Maria Butyrskaya, or a hi-5 from Plushy.....It's the beauty coupled with the strength both physical and mental that I truly love about them. Alina showed both in her LP and her big win at the GPF. I know that Nationals will be very difficult in Russia and some very talented skaters will be left off the team......Best of luck to all.....

Another calm before the storm. But this time before the amazing storm. I'm still waiting the official announcement about participants, the confirmation about Trusova's and Tarakanova's WD/or not, and news about WD/or not, of Evgenia and Anna.

We need a cool videomaker to make a sensational video-preview of the Russian Nationals 2018. Like this or this.

Undino, Imagine, we need your supervideomaking power! I mean, I could do this, but I hate Sony Vegas, Adobe Premiere or whatever. Just very scary programs.

And this music will be very cool for it.

wow you're a lucky one! i envy a little :)

By the way, at previous JGPF 2016 scores for PC were actually higher. Greedy judges didn't want to reward my Alena! :disapp: Nastya's PCS also should be higher.

Sasha said in an interview at JGPF that she has no events left this calendar year.

So, 5 top medals for 5 skaters. Who would doubt that with Medvedeva it would be 6 out of 6?

Where is skater boy who regularly over the last several years professes concerns about the state of Russian ladies? I think the state just cannot be better.

The biggest event is coming - Russian Nationals in St.Petersburg! Just 2 weeks left. We are going with my wife leaving our kids with the granny in Moscow. Live reports are due!

Don’t be sad...she said she wants to work on a 3a and to improve that quad during that time.

It just could be cool again will see a battle between Junior GPF Champion and Senior GPF Champion, just like in the last year. But that's true, she has to take her time to improve her quad sal, to finally do it clean. I just was thinking if all four girls are out this is not so cool. Especially considering that Nugumanova and Kurakova didn't participate at senior Russian Cup stages, only at junior. But still we will have GPF champion, GPF silver medalist and JGPF silver medalist.

Oh my goodness I freaked out a bit, I thought you meant this season before I actually let it sink in.
Still, I want my babies Sasha and Nastya at senior nationals!! :dev2:
Guess the coaches' council was too intimidated by them to let them be there :disapp:
