Not necessarily, Nugumanova did one of these earlier in the season, I think, and she definitely won't be at Sr Nats. I hope she is fully healed or at least not at risk of worsening her injury, if she does plan to go :pray:
Could someone please translate? I missed Zhenya very much at GPF, it just wasn't the same :(

I'm feeling nervous about this. She'll lose some international reputation if she loses to Zagitova. international fans and judges are looking into russian nationals pecking order too.
 
On one hand, I’m happy because it feels like it’s been so long since we’ve last seen her. On the other hand, I’m worried that because of her injury she wouldn’t be able to perform the way she usually does.

I just hope she’s fully healed, and that they made the right decision. They know more about this situation than we do afterall.

Didn't someone say her foot was still in a cast when she spoke at IOC a week ago? Nationals is now about a week away, isn't it? Even if she is fully recovered, it there isn't much time to prepare... :-/

She's such a fighter, but she's scaring me...

From the pictures at the IOC meeting it looked like it wasn't in a cast anymore, but like she only had a protective bandage on her ankle. Considering they let her jump at her EX at NHK though, I am quite scared that she might not be ready. Fingers crossed for her, I'm excited to have her back and wish her an amazing competition! I will be more nervous than usual watching her though :eeking:

Yes... Russian Nationals is going to be more stressful than usual... and that other bloodbath Japan Nationals is on at the same time! I'm going to be a wreck by the end...
 
I really don't think this is a good idea. There's no way an injury like that could properly heal in this time. I'd have liked to see her take a significantly longer break.

The competition will be better to watch with her for sure, I just hope she doesn't have to regret this situation if she, for instance, aggravates the injury and delays her full recovery.

So is she competing or just holding a speech/making a promo for the competition?

This was at the end of the article, so I’m geussing she’s competing. But yeah, it would be great if a Russian speaker clarifies.

Kogan's words definitely mean that she is going to compete.

She's going to compete. There is a problem with translation because sentences in Russian can have a complicated structure, and translator for some reason decided to put "speak" in the wrong place.

it's just a case of wrong choice for translation of the verb "выступать" - it can mean "appear/speak/compete/step forward" etc (that is why we, humans, are still better at translation).
Just like you, I'll be happy to see Zhenya compete again!

you're right, i just thought translator took this word away from the part "Kogan said" or something like that
