We need to think about our own broadcasting studio like ISU and Ted have. But for the beginning, we should calculate costs/profit.![]()
we had a live stream from all of the Russian cup stages. SO I believe we will have a live stream for junior nationals in Saransk as well.I doubt there will be any stream from Russian junior in Saransk in three weeks at so much more deserving tournament. Oh Russia, why aren't you showcasing your most wonderful assets, it's the easiest international PR, everybody love your skaters!![]()
I think while it wouldnt be profitable per se, it could be used for many purposes. For instance, imho, its easier for kids and teenagers to look up at junior skaters, who are around same age, have similar problems and so on, rather than senior skaters, who tend to be, like, 18+, so it could be used to promote sports and so on.
A stream could be relevant for the skaters too, since its not like all their families and friends could afford traveling to such competitions. Its something you can get your buddies to watch real time cheering for you.
And i dont think that, currently, a live stream would be too expensive - think no commentary no TES box, its stuff people can do at home even.
And well, there is never enough PR.
The process by itself is not so expensive. But camera and moreover money for traveling, hotels, tickets, bureaucracy with accreditations - these are the real problems. The case with Finlandia Trophy shows that people are not ready to pay 20 euro to watch figure skating. But I agree, there were not so many good skaters and the cost was way too high for that. But even if it will be about 5 dollars, and it will be Novice/Junior Russian Nationals, how many people will want to spend their money to watch this? 80% of them will try to find a pirate link. Also, let's imagine it worked, 100 interested people. 500$ profit, really? Even 200 people = 1000$ - this is very little money. Costs for the tickets to Russia, hotels, the competition - are way much coster. So no profits at all for a first look.

“One of the things I would love to do is a documentary on some of the training centers and teams of the world,” Barton commented. “Certainly come here to Japan. Go to Russia, Canada and the United States. To study how coaches bring up kids. How they bring up the person, the child person into the adult person. The child athlete into the adult athlete. Tell the stories, because they are remarkable stories.”
recent phenomenal work of Russian coach Eteri Tutberidze, who has displayed nothing short of a magic wand in her development of young skaters

I don’t think you can say that people are not willing to pay 20 euros to watch figure skating. Check the price of the tickets at worlds. If I recall correctly, my all event ticket cost more than £1200. (Don’t remember the exact sum, but it definitely was ovr this number). And yet plenty of tickets were sold. There may be other reasons why people didn’t go to Finlandia trophy.

1. You don't need to travel if you can find a local person who is figure skating fan and has camera i.e. it can be international community of broadcasters ( ICB).
:2. Is "pay per view" the best strategy? what about donations like many software developers use?
3. And ICB as organization can contact with ISU to get some rights to use commercial/promo banners at the site or something like that![]()

Also, i´m sorry, i really dont get all the profit part. See JGP streams. I´m pretty sure nobody makes any money on that, still it is done and actually brings some good attention to juniors.
I guess there are so many great Russian ladies to talk about. I will talk about the ones who are skating at EUROS and Olympics and worlds and what I want to know is how is Evgenia? Is she really able to compete at her best or is she still really hurt? Is she able to compete in top form with the all the tech? Is she full out practising? Who is going to Euros? I thought it was the oly and world team - Evgenia, Alina and Maria? Who is the back up or alternate(s).
You do realize how many minor competitions are streamed, right? There often are multiple ones a week and the live viewer counts range from around 10 to 80 at most. It's not like no one does streaming for Russian competitions. Really, the simple solution is to just have the junior nationals at places where people who stream exist. Or just ship them in(How much could it cost, really?).Pretty sure that hiring a local with a cam for a day is not that expensive. I dont see why they would need to pay for extra traveling, hotels or tickets (since i´m pretty sure the cameraman do not pay for tickets, same as other people who work during the competition).
Also, i´m sorry, i really dont get all the profit part. For me, its something that would only make sense if streamed for free and funded by russian gov with the sole purpose of promoting russian sport.

For example, take a look at this Youtube channel. The competition videos have around 1-2k views in total. But if you look at the competition videos from late December 2017 for example, there's live TES displays, skater information, live scores on the screen etc. even though these are extremely minor competitions no one really cares about.
See, I would be willing to pay money. I just don't have the money! That's all true, dear hanca. (Btw, what a rich lady you are! I'm amazed again! Are you married or free?!
I'm, too, ready to pay 20-30 dollars to watch full coverage with FHD live stream of an event, sitting/lying on my couch, and drinking.

Sure but it just goes to show that the technology is there and probably wouldn't cost that insurmountable an amount... I too would like this person to cover more events. Seems to just do some locals but the stream's always such a treat. But still, there's the Studia 38 thing that covers tons more events pretty well and such... I just can't comprehend how covering nationals would be too much.Yeah, would be cool to see him at competitions with more supernovas. But I suppose he is somehow related to local technical controllers or their assistants, and just as hobby do these live streams with all the information.
Problem with such amateur streams is poor camera angles/work. And it's really important to have multiple cameras/good quality for MUCH better impression - I am strictly convinced in that now after wonderful JGPF translation. It's a pity that performances deserving utmost attention and quality of translation usually get second-hand approach.
So, if I would pay money - I would pay it for quality service. Else there are always some amateur phone streams can be found for free anyway - why I should pay then?
