Oh but she already is a star, the brightest of them all! All she needs is some more public exposure. And well, full recovery of course(And keeping her body together).

She's going to be so good for figure skating as a whole~

I agree, she said completely nothing wrong. She gave all respect to her rivals. People should not judge so easily.
 
Oh I at least didn't deduce that she was trying to be disrespectful to Medvedeva from this one interview, I've just had the understanding that Radionova really dislikes Medvedeva since year 2015 or so. And considering that background, that's what I'd assume would be the case.
 
Although it is illogical, perhaps radionova feels some resentment for Zhenya since she won the national title right after Elena, and blasted onto the international scene in a way radionova didn’t quite manage. She may feel normally towards zagitova as she is a few years younger and radionova didn’t grow up competing head to head with Alina.

As for nerves for both Zhenya and Alina, euros is essentially a four person race between the three Russians and kostner for the podium. As mentioned, Zhenya thrives on competition within the group at sambo, and it pushes her forward. Does it do that for Alina? I don’t know her thoughts on the subject. But seeing each other do run through (likely with more difficult combos and extra combos) after run through in practice each day must almost desensitise them to each other, and not feel fear of their great tech skill. I’d be more nervous as a competitor who doesn’t share their rink, as you never know what tech content they could suddenly do on the fly if required. That can get in your head in competition.

That is true which is super impressive. She always comes out skating fab for the FS to redeem herself which makes me wonder if going to FS as an underdog/ not a leader is when she thrives. If that's the case, its a good thing for her now that Medvedeva is back since the pressure will certainly shifts to Med.

When she was falling on her axel in her first competition they immediately change the entry/transition and that fixed the problem but the 3lz-3loop combo in the short is definitely more of a psychological thing.

I feel like they tried to let her deal with it and hope she overcomes it but looks like its not happening yet. i think that they should try the 3lz-3t combo in Euro to see if that will work. But if she skates clean in SP but mess up FS then just better go back to 3lz-3loop combo in the short.

Awesome! I really appreciate what they've been doing. The coverage is so much better than just a few years ago. They also are streaming the competition on the 15th as well as the one on 26th which is great news for me personally.

:jaw: Daaaang, that was wow! Guess the Russian ladies field will be continue being amazing for many years to come if that's any indication!

Also, it was totally adorable when after finishing her program and taking her bows her coach(father?) had to lift her off the ice because she's that tiny :laugh:

But seriously, her determination to express some artistry, raw as it is at that age, makes some international skaters of three times her age look boring in comparison.

I also thought at this possibility, that changing the combo in the short into a 3lz3t might affect further her confidence and therefore make a mistake in the free. But it depends how the coaching team will introduce the change, I guess.
I will also opt for a change in the short at the Europeans as this is the last competition where they can experiment and see what works or not.
