Jason Brown

Just saw Ms. Yoooonk’s retweet, is there a young skater at Kettler Iceplex who *didnt* get a selfie with Jason.

But I’m still not getting the geography. Taipei has got to be closer to Colorado than D.C., like the Pacific Ocean and everything? But I’ve never been to Asia, so what do I know.....

Geography wise, Colorado is closer. But time zone wise, D.C. is closer.

You're right that Colorado would be closer. However, Washington DC is 13 hours later than Taipei, while Colorado is 15 hours later. It's not about the distance but the time zone. The east coast is almost directly on the opposite side of the world as Taipei, while the west coast, despite being closer to Taipei, is further west at a later time zone than the east coast.

I'm still so confused, but I trust both of you.

Hoping that it won't be 7 a.m. here when Jason skates (since I am in the same time zone as the now world famous Kettler Iceplex:laugh:). I don't do 7 a.m. anymore. ;)

The SP at 4CC starts at 3:35 a.m. eastern time and ends at 7:57 a.m. So it probably will be 7 a.m. something, LOL.
The FS at 4CC starts at 11:30 p.m. eastern time and ends at 3:35 a.m. eastern time.

Sorry.

Here's what Jason might be doing in the Audrey Weisiger/DC area. Dartfish. I did not mention it before because surely someone in Colorado Springs has the program, but maybe not? Plus I would think you could upload vids and get back analysis these days from your own rink, but this used to be a great location for "what is wrong with my jump tech nowadays?" analysis. Maybe it still is?

Anyway, just a random thought.

It might not be a great time to go to Colorado Springs, i.e. World Arena, due to all the Olympic stuff. Going to D.C. means low key, he probably has plenty of ice time and he doesn't have a constant reminder that he isn't on the Olympic Team (it sounds like there's A LOT or press at World Arena covering the likes of Mirai, Vincent, etc.)

For some reason I thought 7K had dartfish, but I could be wrong. I do remember Kori discussing use of dartfish in her TSL interview, in the context of how soon she would expect to see a skater progress, but perhaps I just assumed they had it in house.

Interestingly, Kori and Rohene are still listed as Laurine’s coaches, but neither was at the boards or in knc with her today at Euros. (She looked pretty good and no falls but got low tech score so I’m guessing <)

According to the SP thread, Kori's stuck in Houston due to visa problems. Laurine didn't do a combo, so that cost her.

Jason got more selfies with members of the Fairfax Ice Theatre crew yesterday. So he's still in Virginia.

Thanks for the info - the fire alarms in my building kept going off last night so I was quite groggy this morning and barely watched any of the SP, and didn’t read the thread. I noticed she put her hand down on the first two jumps but it didn’t penetrate that she didn’t get a combo off - duh!

Poor Kori, stuck in Houston.

ETA I really hope Jason is training for 4CC and not doing a guest appearance with the ice theater!

I know some of us have seen the Twitter already, and I’m traveling and on the iPad and can’t link, but...

What’s with Jason and the mini Lincoln Memorial? Is he serious about reflecting? And where the heck is that and it better be near a rink....

#whyisjasoninvirginia

The mini was a reflection of my own hopes that Jason was not spending the day touristing ;) I suppose if he’s staying near Ballston, it’s a 20 minute ride, it is on the orange line, maybe he just ran down, took a photo, and ran back. Or it’s dark, so he could have gone after practice...

Such a slave driver I am:biggrin:

ETA: 20 minutes to Smithsonian stop. Jason’s in shape, he can run fast to the end of the mall

LOL, you are pretty demanding, el henry.

Also, noting the full-blown mustache. Definite sign of contemplation.

At least he didn’t give us “Dancing through the Lincoln Memorial” - or at least, not yet. :p

Seriously, I’m glad he’s taking the time to reflect rather than just pushing everything aside and plowing through to 4CCs. We all have our theories about what went wrong this season and why he imploded at Nats - but he’s the only one who really knows. He’s got to figure out where he wants to go and what he has to do differently to get there.

ETA Not a fan of the mustache, though.
