Evgenia Medvedeva

Her layout doesn't give high bv but less chance to mess up with reduced training. I'm bitter and relieved at the same time ...

Actually according to skatingscores her BV is the 3rd highest in ladies after Zagi and Bradie Tennell. http://skatingscores.com/ladies/

Thanks! Such a cool and interesting statistics to know!

I also think that complaining about Zhenya's BV is over the top sometimes. It's not highest but not lowest at all, especially counting how full her programmes with transitions...
Again if she stays, and I hope she will, she will try the loop combos in the next season...

Also, BV strongly depends on repeating 3Lz. And we all seen in official trainings she can do combos with 3Lz many times. If she could somehow change her edge she could easily repeat 3Lz.

However, the wrong edge in Lz is honestly almost impossible to change, I don't know any examples of changing it, some rare examples when changing Flip edge...
I could bet all my money that Tsarina spends days and days working on her Lz, which might actually be one of the reasons for her injury....It's physical inability to correct the edge on Lz imo. It wasn't her fault she was taught like that plus I think she can't simply make her foot to be in right position imo......

For me the best example of such a pity with edges is Mao! She is a simply fantastic skater and beloved by many, hard worker and the amazing performer. However, during her entire career, she was trying to correct the edge, working with different coaches and still couldn't do it! Therefore, I think that sometimes it's just something impossible to change, it's not up to skaters, cuz they all work freaking hard to correct it......

Therefore, I believe that Skaters who have issues like wrong edges or for instance unable to jump 5 different quads, should have the ability to stay competitive......Therefore I hope that the manner how PCS is rewarded now will be changed....And hopefully it will become more fair and clear why some skaters have an advantage in PCS, cuz now it's common to simply give you high marks in all 5 aspects of PCS if you have a strong or high TES imo....

Sorry, it was a long post, just thought I stay my position on it.:)

Fair game is a dream, as long as judges are humans and humans are all more or less biased and have different tastes.
I think edge can be fixed but risky (falls = injuries) and take a lot of time and dedication, and you have to train other jumps to keep consistency in the middle of that too. It's unrealistic when you have consecutive competitions to attend.
Maybe before fixing the edge she needs to change her take off technique on toe jumps. I see almost all ladies take off with full blade/half blade on toe jumps nowsaday instead of a toe assist, resulting in more than 90° of prerotation and also make their edges more blurry.
With proper toe take off there'd be less prerotation and she can be off ice before her edge changes from outside to inside.

I agree the PCS should be reformed.
Her Lz is not always wrong. Sometimes the edge is correct or is unclear.

It should be an option. Seeing Trusova the 11th would warm my heart. :)

Putting all together would be so confusing but yeah, make it an option is great for those who wants to see it.

Btw, I've seen coaches organizing training camp for their students with a different coach. I hope Eteri isn't the type to hold everything to herself and let her students go out and see the outside world sometimes, because some coaches out there might find a way to fix Zhenya's techniques.

Also, I've rewatched Zhenya's SP and LP and EX in euros, apart from technical hiccups, I can say that when she goes emo, it really shows (more nuanced movements that go with music accents, watch her FP' stsq and compare it to earlier performances in the season). No need to be her fan to see it, bc I've seen comments from pepple who aren't her fans and they said they also notice it. Hoping this will be a direction she'd go for her future programs

p/s: The style of the ex really fits her, dark, slightly edgy and masculine. I hope she'll go with this style for one of her future programs, it'd stand out very much because most ladies go with graceful, feminine, classic style.

I would absolutely LOVE for her to do a free program to music like that, and a similar costume. It would really make her stand out, and I think it’s a risk worth taking.

Not sure Eteri would let her do it for a competition (non-ex) program. Look at Alina, she is more athletic type and there she is stuffed into a tutu pretending to be a ballerina. I think feminine classic skating is more "judge-friendly" and they don't sadly want to take risks.

I do see that something new is risky, but I think even if Zhenya try new things it wouldn't hurt her pcs too much because she always has big reputation among judges. Alas I don't think they would go for it after all. And I can see Alina doing the "ballet" thing for years to come while it cleary doesn't fit her because judges keep throwing hardly justifiable pcs like candies. It saddens me greatly how the sport is so conservative and I hope someone will start a revolution.

I just remembered that I have earlier imagined Zhenya skating in a similar outfit to the solo from Comfortably Numb.

Alas I don't think they would go for it after all.

I can't remember any of Eteri's making such a program before. Averbukh said this program was made by Eteri and Zhenya, so I hope the successful experiment will encourage them to develop this style further.

I'm so excited! After all the mess of this season we finally see our girl leaving for the Oly Games!!! I would say it's already a miracle! Let's be positive and prepare for many many new wonderful pictures and videos and news. I pray for Zhenya to enjoy all the upcoming events and get back with good memories. And from my side I can only send her 100% support and love.
