Jason would never dis anyone. If anything, you just need to have a bit of insulin on hand when around him

But back to Shoma....I can't wait to see him perform at the Oly, and to be honest, I'm very excited to see what he has in store for next season. He's been using the same choreographer for his entire career (except for his Exhib routines). No disrespect to Mrs. Higuchi, but would love to see what others could pull out him.

Her choreographies are pretty similar, but I still feel that she knows Shoma's good points and works them out in the choreography. And they often get help from Stephane Lambiel. But yeah, This Town is choreographed by David Wilson, and it's a great exhibition. I think after this season, he will surely challenge more different music and choreo. At least I hope so.

Speaking of insults to the very dignified Shoma. when the camera was on him as they were announcing Jin Boyang scores. Brown was waving his hands inf front of Shoma's face, still trying to hog the camera. Did he have any clue how aggressive and obnoxious that was especially to Japanese who are all about respect and understatement? Maybe I'm the only one that noticed and I found it incredibly offensive. I adore Shoma and he deserves respect.

You know, Basho, I also have often realized how dignified he is in his own quiet way. Even when he has protected another skater in interviews. It’s not flowery or clever, but he certainly has dignity that doesn’t draw attention. But I was warmed by Max and Jason’s supportiveness in this k-c! Shoma was looking at Keiji like a younger brother and I think they were helping him get Keiji’s attention, and Keiji did see him. When Boyang was having a wonderful k-c, Max and Jason were sitting on either side of Shoma with arms linked, like “big bros” and I loved them so much I could have kissed them both. Skaters at the level of Max and Jason are masters of what they do, in any other profession, doctors, lawyers. Skaters at this level appreciate each other and are usually feeling and supportive, but I’ve seen these two always laughing with Shoma over the years, anyway. Just so thoughtful.
We may get confused by bloggers (who probably can’t skate!). I seem to recall an unkind photo making Shoma look ridiculous at that time because he seemed to not know if the right camera was on, he seemed to be asking someone. The blogger had a dismissive comment.
I trust skaters more! :agree2:

^^^This year, Shoma and Jason were at so many competitions together (4--Lombardia, Sk Can, GPF, 4CC), it was almost getting a little comical. Plus they have done ice shows together. Jason loves to practice his Japanese, and I'm sure Shoma likes having someone around who can help him out if necessary. They are very friendly and have nothing but the utmost respect for each other.

I know the link has already been posted above by xeyra, but I just wanted to point out that this video epitomizes the whole 'dead banana' thing and may well be selected as a sort of video logo (avatar?) for our 'dead banana' community. :dbana:

I second your proposal. Dead Banana logo for sure!:dbana: I fully expect to see this as Arriba's new avatar.

Or it could be an initiation ritual! This cracks me up -- also his "ohhhhhhh" when he sees that piece of beef. Like it's the first time he's ever had beef.

But I like serious Shoma too, reviewing his performance. https://www.instagram.com/p/BesvzemDFK8/ And that photo of him from Number magazine where he's looking down (wearing the gray Winter costume). That would look great on a Shoma button with the word Kakkoii in Japanese! (hmmm, gets an idea :whack: :handw:) Yes! Here it is! https://twitter.com/hara1217_uno1/status/958993686318088192/photo/1

ETA -- Reading these last few posts and just laughing at how we're so starved for any info about the Prince that we all just pounce on anything new (me included!) :o: :dbana: :console:

Yuzuru is not competing at the team event? That sounds ominous. Please JSF, just make Shoma skate the SP. Not the FS.

By the way, I've read Stephane's comments on Shoma before, but didn't see the actual video. I'm grateful sachy referenced it. It's from 4:45 to 7:40 on the YouTube video.

His comments make a whole lot of sense in understanding Shoma's skating.

I've always loved this interview with Stephane. You can feel his genuine affection for Shoma. When they are working together, you can see how comfortable Shoma is with him. Steph's comments show how Shoma is such an intuitive skater and how he has to feel the choreography. So interesting, and I love Stephane's gentle spirit.

*****
JSF, please have Sho skate the SP and Dad Keiji the FS for the team event.

I highly doubt JSF would assign only one skater to skate both SP and FP at the Team Event. Did you guys already forget Sochi? ;)
Yuzu was one of the fav for gold and Machida was assigned with him for Team Event. Considering Japan has a 3-man rooster, there’s nothing to worry about. They’ll do the same with Shoma and Keiji. The only question mark is “who will do what?”.

3-man rooster. [emoji13] Awesome typo. An image of a rooster with Shoma, Yuzu, and Keiji on its crown, or maybe its tail feathers, just popped into my head. You really are a plumedragon! (Sorry, the pun refused to go unsaid.)

Piyo, piyo! [emoji1]

I hope your predictions are true.

LOL! I didn’t even notice my typo. Sorry about that... ah well, I won’t correct it, it’s funny. :p
But yes I’m confident Shoma will not skate both SP and FP (though, if he could skate FP, we could see if he will do as he says and go back to his blue costume, considering no one (including him) like the canary/banana one )

Well, Shoma will for sure do the SP since it's the only way for Team Japan to even have a chance at making the FS. Keiji will do the FS after, unless Shoma chooses to do both. JSF isn't going to force him to do both programs, it'd have to be his choice and I don't think he'll risk it anyway, unless he just takes it as another runthrough day.

Thanks, you guys. I guess that 'offense' was totally my problem.
