I am so excited for Shoma this year :hap93:

The men will be an exciting event. I'm also happy about the new rule regarding removing a jump next year. Hopefully ALL the coaches will use this time to focus on the artistry for all the men!

If they were removing only the jump pass, I'd agree it would be a great opportunity to develop programs into something more 'artistic' but they're also shaving off 30s of the FS run time (so it's the same length as the ladies) and you don't take 30s to set up a jump so the opposite effect might actually happen, especially with skaters likely removing their 'easier' jump from the layout.

Sorry for the :hijacked:

This is true. What I meant was the training time devoted to the "said jump" and it's transition could be used elsewhere in the program (i.e. choreo). It'll be interesting to see how coaches/skaters approach their training next season with this new rule ;)

His choices are so... Well, our tastes differ, let's just say that. Hence, I disagree. Haha. But hey, as long as Shoma is on the list! That violet get up is so pretty and sparkly. It twinkles. [emoji16]

We have Olympics and Worlds to go, and of course I'm anticipating seeing those competitions and Shoma competing in them, but is it weird to say that I'm also excited for next season? I think he'll be branching out into other music and styles a little more, and might even work with other choreographers (with Coach Fluffy's supervision, of course). Maybe we'll see some hip hop moves? He has to use the moves he learned in Canada sometime!

Is he the one who chose Winter over blue Turandot at some other competition? Because if yes that invalidates his choices forever.
And I agree, his choices are very different than what mine would have been, except for Shoma's pick.

I feel the same way and am already envisioning something edgy and cool! And (true confessions) I'm wondering which GP events he'll get. They announced everything much earlier last season, and I hope this upcoming season will be the same...In the meantime, Go Shoma! Can't believe the Olympics are almost here! And stay well--please, please, please! No flu!

I think he used some of those in his 'See you again' EX, in the middle section. :dance3:

I saw Kaori left Japan on TV yesterday, and my husband just told me that Kana/Chris and Miyu/Ryu did skate at the rink today. Where's our Winter Prince? Already in Korea?? Or is he still training in Nagoya??? Which one does Shoma skate; SP or FS for for the team event? Suspense goes on... :drama:

He skates the SP, wasn't that in the News already? And he should be in Gangneung right now, right? :o: Looking forward to Winter! Only 4 nights left!

Yes where the heck is Shomita?????? I read that Keiji would not be arriving until Feb. 8.

Uncle Dai is arriving today so I am hoping we will get some footage of the skaters before the Team Event.

GO SHOMA!!!!

Oh, I should have posted a link or something here, But yesterday I read somewhere (I have to find) that he was leaving on Tuesday their time.

And also if anyone is interested, OT, there is a quote about Hanyu by his coach that all of his quads is really good save his Lutz. But it is a quote into Japanese, that was quoted back to English! So I think they haven't decided YET on the Lutz. (This I read this morning.)

Hopefully we'll see some practice news to keep us from going crazy. In the meantime, here is a little reminiscing about how much Shoma loves the ice when he is practicing. Look at how cute / kakkoii the old face is! https://www.instagram.com/p/_FKQJ8D-Q9/

Old face= kawaii, new face= kakkoii! [emoji7]

Hasn't he been skating to See You again since the ice shows in the summer of 2016? Wasn't the hiphop video from summer 2017? I may be wrong though. Still fun to think that Mihoko-san choreographed See You Again, including the hip hop moves during the rap part. She's a pretty versatile choreographer herself.

Addendum- Ooh! I was Googling Mihoko and stumbled upon an article from Junior Worlds 2014, with a short piece on Shoma, who was one of the highlights of the event for the writer (despite not getting on the podium). Consider where he was then and where he is now (heading to the Olympics as a contender for the gold medal in the men's event). His growth really is remarkable!
