Yuzuru Hanyu: 2017-2018

I totally understand! I've been trying to keep up with all the interviews and other things, and I still have to work! It's crazy. --And how do Yuzu and Shoma survive doing all of it and still smile?

One of the interviews (too many to keep track of!) Hanyu said something like "Yes, all of this is hard, but it's something that only the winners have to deal with, so I'm happy to be able to do this."

https://twitter.com/BluecosmosH/status/965481488106995715 Yuzu and Shoma get commemoration postage stamps.
I saw a commercial for these this morning while in Tokyo and I happened to be heading to Sendai later that day. The first post office I went to I didn’t see anything so I thought maybe the photo I saw wasn’t actually stamps. Then I asked the tourist info desk at Sendai Station. Someone there heard someone got the stamps and Sendai Central Post Office earlier that day, so I walked there and sure enough, I saw signs for the special stamp sets. I went inside and there were quite a few people in the queue (I was 474 and they were on number 431). Eventually to help speed up the line they tried to have one clerk soley sell the stamp set, there was a little bit of an uproar as at first people thought they were going out of number but they didn’t. It seems many of those waiting were indeed there to buy Yuzuru’s stamp set (I saw a lot of people getting it).

End of story, I got the stamps :) It was 1400 yen, I would’ve gotten Shoma too since these are pretty cool, but I didn’t have enough actual cash on me for my full purchase. So I’m not sure how widely available these are but they don’t appear to be offered at every post office.

I can't sleep, he has been on TV all day. My eyes and head are soured from keep editing the video. Please help :dbana:

I wonder if he goes to cheer for the ladies tomorrow, I remember he did in Sochi and was almost crying when he was watching Mao's FS.

Take your time, we can wait, lol

You're having quite the adventure. I'd invite you to visit but we're 2 meters deep in snow where I am. Have a safe final part of your travels and get home safely. :ghug:

Aww that would be fun, I return to the US on the 22nd from tokyo but I’ve been sick since after Kyoto on the 14th - there a lot of people sick out there and the germs and probably changing extreme temperatures and lack of sleep did me in. In Korea I’d be chilly outside but once I got inside a train or building I’d be way too hot. It was fairly uncomfortable. I’m running a marathon of travel and I think I’m losing it 😂.

Oh noooo...I've been sick while traveling and it's the worst! I don't know what your rest cure is...but do you like onsen? It really warms the body up and helps with chills. I hope you can sleep now that the intense stuff is done...or are you a fan of the ladies skating as well? Will you watch them?

http://figureskating-in-color.tumbl...homa-uno-live-interview-with-shoma-and-yuzuru Your wish has been granted. It is indeed hilarious, and many thanks to the translators for their fast work.

Love that interview! Thanks to the translator so more people can read their conversation in English. These were really nice words from Yuzuru about the other competitors and Shoma: [U = Ueda, the host]

U: Well of course you were happy!! Around when was it that you were like, “Ok, I’m ready in time [for the Olympics]”?

Y: I don’t think I was able to be ready in time at all.

U: Really?

Y: Well at this competition, a lot of the others didn’t skate their best either. Of course, you can say things like ‘but that is their true ability’ or ‘that’s what the Olympics do’. Either way, if all of the skaters were to skate their best, I know I would not have been able to win.

U: What are the aspects of each other that you are impressed by?

Y: His titanium heart.

U: Well that’s a given. But seriously, is Uno always like that?

Y: His brain might also be made of titanium.

Finally had time to log in and say congratulations to Yuzu! I’m so happy for him and in awe that he was able to do what he did while still injured. Wishing a speed recovery, much happiness and health to the greatest ever!
