Thank you, Interspectator! I actually had just finished reading when you posted, but I have to watch the video yet. So funny how Matsuoka wants to emphasize that Shoma won the Silver medal in the Olympics (and gets the audience on his back), and how big of a deal that is. And yet Sho-sho is still somewhat nonchalant about it. [emoji28] Good for him though, since he doesn't get fazed easily. He treats every competition the same and just wants to keep moving forward.

Also had to laugh at Yuzuru's "I'm not yet retiring, but if I were, I feel Shoma is reliable." Then mentions that he still needs to probably stay around and look after him for a little bit, since Shoma sleeps when he should appear. [emoji16] I feel though, that Shoma was taking on the media presence well in Yuzuru's absence, but was happy when Yuzuru came back and sort of went, "Here they are, you can have them back", with a devil-may-care, lemme go back to the way I was attitude. He's so funny. [emoji23] You could see when Yuzuru was absent for a few months that he accommodated the media and listened closely to their questions (more or less), but with Yuzuru back he lets Yuzuru do all the talking and allows himself to sleep during the interviews, on-cam. [emoji12] He's quite adaptable.

So I've now watched the video. Matsuoka is hilarious!!! [emoji23] he's almost lunging forwards to get Shoma to speak, and really pushing Shoma to feel more for his Olympic Silver. He's so passionate while Shoma is like [emoji52]. "Shoma is probably the least aware of this, but you just WON THE OLYMPICS SILVER MEDAL!!! That's an AMAZING THING!!!" [emoji16] Then Shoma with the "Well, I'm happy people are talking about it like that..." [emoji4] [emoji23]

You know, it's just another competition, just another silver medal... [emoji16] Keep being you, Shomita.

Him and Ayumu are quite a pair. They hover on the corner half asleep together. And they are about the same height. Adorable.

I'm betting Ayumu plays lots of games as well! Everyone's laughing at Shoma's bedhead, but Ayumu's is way worse. His hair reminds me of Albert Einstein. [emoji33]

Same here! I knew he was destined for great things ever since he burst into the scene at Four Continents in 2015, but this is still so surreal to me.
 
Just dropping by to say congratulations to Shoma for becoming the reigning Olympic Silver Medalist! :yahoo: I've been watching him pretty much since his senior debut and to see him come so far in such a relatively short time is so incredible; and I hope that with this achievement this will be the start of even bigger and better things for him, like hopefully winning at the World Championships! :cheer:

You know, I actually polled people asking if they would rather have an Olympic silver/bronze medal or a World gold (keeping in mind that it's mutually exclusive). It was surprisingly split between the two.

From what I understand from a Japanese colleague on whose devise I was able to watch a press conferences, (I had a late night, but this was my reward! Though I would have preferred sleeping at the time.) Yuzu said both Shoma and Nathan would not have beaten him with clean skates. (!) Something like, “Let me make this part very clear. Even had Nathan done a clean short, I would have won.” No one apparently asked him to be specific. But it is fair, as one won, one wouldn’t want any of it to be put into question. My colleague told me there was a bite to Yuzu’s voice when he said that.

Back to Shoma, I am just catching up and it is so wonderful to read how happy everyone is! He is amazing to me, and I am already so eager for coming competitions and seasons. I wish I was a Japanese speaking fly on the wall, while Shoma and team discuss plans!!! I have crammed as much media coverage as I could manage, but I believe sleep takes a priority for Shoma and he does as little of media as he can!
 
Yes, I hope he's able to pull off his ninja moves and disappear soon, despite all the media attention on him as the Olympic Silver Medalist (I'm still enjoying typing that). [emoji1] Worlds is less than a month away!
 
I keep getting sad that the Olympics are over and we'll be seeing less of everyone, but then I remember Worlds is coming and I'm soooo ready to watch Shoma kill it. It's even better knowing he's looking forward to it too ❤️

This makes me think that it is kinda strange that figure skaters don't really have any merch. I mean I know Shoma released his calendar and I remember Mura had tot-bags but that's not a lot/not widespread whereas you see any basic youtuber has t-shirts/cell phone covers/any kind of merch.
I think that'd be cool if Shoma had official merch, and i think a lot of fans would be interesting in buying it to support him that way. That is obviously if it's a kinda tastefull merch, not just his face printed in big on a shirt (ngl maybe i would buy that still)
