Yuzuru Hanyu: 2017-2018

Hi I am new here but was very glad to find a forum dedicated to yuzuru hanyu.
Have a lot of backtracking to do.
Noticed him since some acquaintances keep talking about his performances. And how his olympic win made them cry.
I was so curious to know what it is about then boom I have seen the light.

Welcome to this forum !!! :ghug:
It is such a joy that the number of fans is increasing !

I was happy that I went to the bookstore today and saw the shelf for congratulating Yuzuru's win at the Olympics, I didn't expecting that because the store was very small in my country town

Anyways, I bought Yuzuru's new book and Oda's book published some weeks ago. I've read the chapter 10 of Yuzuru's book at first, it was basically about his thoughts towards PC Olympics and how hard it was to spend his time after Sochi Olympics. When he started talking about the importance of his mother and family, he cried and he was surprised at himself, he said it was the first time for him to cry during the interview. I really like the interviews of "Ice Jewels" because it seems Yuzuru opens his heart to the interviewer every time compared to other interviews. I really want to know who he/she is but maybe we'll never know. Also we don't know when this interview was given, guessing from his comments, it was probably in the beginning of this season.

Some points:

・He feels it is getting hard to learn how to jump only by his physical ability and imagination. He could do that when he was trying to learn 4T and 4S, but he can't do it easily in learning 4Lo and 4Lz. He thinks he needs more technique and knowledge.

・His life has been like a roller coaster with a lot of ups and downs, and he feels it will be the same from now on.

・After Sochi Olympics, he was thinking he would retire after PC Olympics. And to be really honest, he was still thinking the same until two seasons ago. But he remembered he had to challenge 4A and he could not quit without doing it.

・Studying at the university is fun. He wants to learn and gain knowledge more, so he wants to continue studying a little bit longer. (does this mean he'll take another year on purpose? I don't know.)

・Eventually he is interested in coaching. He wants to leave the data for future skaters and teach them. And if possible, he would like to do ice shows or skating class with the skaters he admires like Stephane, Johnny, Plushenko.

Thanks so much for the summary!:luv17:

No problem! Yuzuru's book is about 2cm thick and Oda's is about 1cm thick. I don't know where to start :drama: (and I saw like 10 magazines with Yuzuru's cover so I pretended not to notice them )

After all those interviews one after another, recent days turned out to be so quiet :( On the bright side though it means he is taking care of himself, seeing a doctor and doing the necessary examinations maybe.

Yes, I think that's what's happening. And we still get some new footage from time to time. Tomorrow, there will be a long TV show with lots of the winter Olympians attending. Yuzu won't be there, but they say they will broadcast as yet unseen footage of him at some point in the show. Also, it's a great show for fans of Team Japan in general. I think Kaori and Satoko will be there.

Not sure if this will be considered appropriate to post here, especially given GS'... attitude and obvious biases, but since it's everywhere right now, I wanted to post it here:

If any of you come across some really negative "news" or "information" about Yuzu being spread - it's time for the people who really hate him to play important again it seems. Attacks on Yuzu, down to accusing him on faking his personal involvement with the 2011 disaster for popularity reasons, seem to be flooding the internet right now. Especially for new fans, be careful about what you read and believe. Honestly, I'd love to say it just doesn't matter and nobody should bother - but Yuzu basically said he does, so reading these kind of things is making me sad. I know a lot of people like to blow out of proportions that "Yuzu fans like to play the victims" or like to make Yuzu out to be the victim - but it's the truth that he gets a scary, sad amount of hate. It's completely impossible for me to understand why Yuzu has to deal with these kind of things, and it's not that I could do much (except for spamming that twitter tag up there like crazy) - but at least I'd want everyone to be aware of things that really, actually, are happening.
(And now I will go and spam more cuteness on that posted twitter tag)

Thank you, I was commented about this and is so disgusting that people would go to such extend to discredit someone, is ok is you are not a fan, you don´t need to attack the guy...

The internet is a place that give the strength to faceless anonymous people to talk trash about someone...

Javier will always have Yuzuru's back. :)

I ascribe it to envy, a cardinal sin in my faith. I recall Yuzuru saying that he was aware of people hating him (and loving him too). Once he stopped an inflight announcement congratulating him on a win on the ground that there are people who will not actually be pleased by it. I for one will be less considerate.

That is why when Yuzuru showed up in Incheon airport with all those bodyguards, I didn't find it "extra" to use the fandom's lingo. Barely smiled too at the humorous comment whether he was afraid of getting whacked ala Nancy Kerrigan.

Now I hope Sendai will step up security in the planned victory parade for him, while I go light a candle and say a prayer for his safety and serenity (peace of mind) and enlightenment for those who hate him.

As long as it's lighthearted jokes I don't mind comments like "Yuzu being extra with all those bodyguards" - not everyone will know the stuff we do, and if there is no ill will, it's fine. But if the comments get into mockery territory... honestly, I can only shake my head too. Some people out there really are crazy.
But you know, it also does make me want to support him even more. People think the "Hanyu fans" are crazy and the Pooh rain ridiculous? Watch me buy 10 Poohs to throw after every single Yuzu performance from now on :p

Best thing to do for me: don't go to those web-sites:slink: If I want to read about Yuzu, I only come here; only positive vibes :luv17:. World has enough bad things everywhere, and there are too many people that must be or really bored or be really mean-spirited...

Go for it! :) And I always believe that love is stronger than hate.

Also this serves as a reminder of the shadow of being a celebrity.
