2017-18 State of Russian Ladies skating

Well, now that the crazy historical week is over with some quads landed and records broken, it's a good thing to remember that next week there will be the Russian younger age championships!

Some more or less notable entries include:

Sofia Akatieva
Elizaveta Berestovskaya
Maria Dmitrieva
Anastasia Zinina
Daria Loboda
Sofia Samodelkina

And also hmm the... slightly-older age championships, where some of the entries are:

Alena Kanysheva
Sofia Moroz
Sofia Muravyova
Anfisa Ryabova

It's not even funny how much stronger the younger age category is. Still, quite a bit to watch... The draw's on the 13th and the younger age elements on the 14th.

um, that is not an achievement to have childish figure at age of 18.
I didn't say she achieved it, nor she has childish figure. Objectively speaking, she is nearly 18yo adult, athletic skater, capable of jumping high and delivering cleanish free skate with seven triples. There aren't many skaters like that in Russia.

Well she is a junior. And there are like 5 juniors who are able to deliver clean SP and FS with triples, and score higher than her internationally.

+1...
Tsurskaya could have a shot at a top 6-7 spot if she has a clean skate that beats or meets her SB this year (210), whereas Stasya will probably max out in the low 190+ range if clean, which probably translates into a best-case scenario of top 8 - top 10.

Any news/rumors abot Gubanova transfer to Buyanova?

Is that really a thing?

I mean for certain aspects that's awesome, finally she would get the scores she always deserved but at the same time why move? She was doing fine with Angelina Turenko, she might lost that consistency at CSKA.

Plus what does that mean for Radionova and Sotskova?

Gubanova needs her jump technique fixed. If Buyanova can do that, and is willing to, then sure, go to her. But... Radionova's really regressed under her, I think (yes, she had a good performance at CoC, but she had good performances with Goncharenko, too)

I think Gubanova needs Mishin. Teaches good technique, has good reputation, doesn't have many high level ladies right now, and doesn't really want to do the crazy programs, and Gubanova doesn't either, it'd appear
