Yuzuru Hanyu: 2017-2018

haha, yes, he is busy and I think we'll get his updates until June at least, which I had expected since he had won a medal. He is injured but it is not like he is not able to walk, so he has to attend many events in Japan. I hope he is going to enjoy them as much as he can :)

I'm really glad Yuzuru himself brings ideas to his show and I repeat that I am so happy he (his show) has official account, I just feel the connection with him. (and doesn't mean I want him to have individual account though)

a fan's drawing.

He would probably post memes or rhetorical questions about figure skating if he had an individual one

#CiONTU is trending in Japanese twitter, seeing them makes me very happy, they are full of love :luv17:

In the NBC VR App you can watch Yuzu's free in 180 degrees. It randomly changes angles for you though for which side of the rink you're on so that was a bit annoying.

You can change which camera angle you’d like to view from by tapping the camera icon at the bottom of the screen.

What I appreciated most about the app is that the rinkside cameras gives the viewer a better sense of the skaters speed on the ice. I know while watching the men’s I thought no one was skating particularly fast, but viewing the programs from the angle provided by the app shows that was not the case and that almost everyone had pretty good speed.

Also, I loved seeing the chaos behind the scenes after Yuzuru skated. The volunteers were scrambling and I mean scrambling ie running behind the scenes in a rush to clean up the Pooh storm on the floor near the kiss and cry area. It was even more hilarious to see Brian sprinting from Yuzuru while removing his coat to get to Javi before he took the ice. 😂

That said, the app is just ok. It still needs a lot of work to bring about the most enjoyable viewing experience.

Oh that’s how it works. I was using google cardboard to test so I haven’t quite figured out how to use the controls (it’s a bit different than the Oculus headset I’ve tried before). That and I only have access to the VR highlights which switched the angles on me all the time but didn’t seem to have options in panorama mode. I’d love to see the entire event with though. It felt pretty real (one of the angles was pretty close to wear I sat) - albeit more blurry.

Don´t know, I´m on the edge and It will depend on the song.

I like JPOP but don´t know if it is music for skate... I guess it will depend on what he wants to do...

SO far he has done a international song (Chopin, Prince) with Japanese music or japanese created music (SEIMEI, Hope and Legacy). I guess this is a good balance, and sticking to music with out lyrics in his "japanese" number helps him connect...

But I would have to see what he choose..

There are tons of great JPop/JRock/JClassical songs and if Yuzuru can get permission to use them (copyrights is a very big issue in Japan), he will use them.

But if we're suggesting, I think I'd like:
1) Illion (Tokyo Ghoul Theme) - Banka because Yuzuru loves Tokyo Ghoul.
2) Kokoro no Sora - Arashi & Hotei Tomayasu
3) Truth/Endless Game mash up - Arashi
4) Shin Takarajima (Bakuman Theme) - Sakanaction
5) Arashi - Hope in the Darkness (Digitalian concert version) (I forgot to add this song.)

Johnny Weir basically confirmed that he’ll be at Yuzu’s show. He said on twitter that for a special event next month, he was “dusting off” an old EX of his... which happens to be “Ave Maria”, a favorite of Yuzu. :cheer:

That´s sounds amazing...

Kohei Uchimura talked about Yuzuru's win at the Olympics. "I'm speechless. The Olympics was the first competition since he had been injured. If I were him, I could not have done the same. It is impossible for me."

Kohei injured his left ankle at WC in October last year and withdrew, and he will participate in the competition in next week after 5 months of absence. His ankle is recovered 70% and he wants to get back the sense of the competition.

Best wishes to Kohei, even when I don´t follow gymnastic much, I know he is also a legend of sports. I wish latin american media would cover other sport beside fútbol :sarcasm:

He looks very shy when talking, isn´t him?
