I'm so happy I woke up just in time to watch his short program, and I'm just so proud of the way he skated! Even with a couple of mistakes, he ended with a smile and that's really all I could ever want. I really just hope that he can end his fs being content with how he skated, no matter how he places overall.

How does he rework the Lp.

We don't know yet. If he made changes to his original layout he will submit the new one just as he did with the SP. Pretty sure he won't be doing the quad flip or the quad loop
unless he has a miraculous recovery in 2 days.

Out of topic but shout out to the DJ who played japanese song for Keiji and Kazuki then go full on kpop for Shoma’s k&c. Bigbang represent!

Something interesting to think about - the B.ESP commentators didn't know Shoma was injured, nor that he had made planned changes to his layout for the short! They were both very surprised by his uncharacteristic mistakes, but still - as always - pleased to watch him.

Also, good quote from Simon (can't remember his exact wording but it was something like): "here at Eurosport we're practically the founders of the Shoma uno fan club!"

They're enthusiastic and optomistic, much like usual :D

aww, that is so cute and yes they really love Shoma!

LOL this is exactly why they're my favorite commentators!

What a fighter Shoma was tonight. The bast Team Japan could have hoped for with his changed jump contents was 5th in SP probably, which he successfully did.:clap::clap: I literally stopped my breathing every time he set himself for a jump, I even cried out loud with fear when he lost the balance into the second spins right after 3A. How he could land 4T and 3A so beautifully with that right foot?! Just wow.

Let's stay strong and send positive vibes to him in the free. :ghug::ghug::ghug:

besp commentators really have a fixation on Shoma's thighs. Today it was Joanne Conway that brought it up instead of Simon as usual. Made me laugh like idgi (love his thighs but that's very strange commentators keep mentionning them lol)

What kind of performance would you like to show in the free?

Shoma: Well here, I failed the jump that was supposed to be the easiest. And my foot, well, it didn’t hurt too much during my skate, so for the free, taking next year’s spots into account as well, I want to be more aggressive with the layout. I know people will think it’s not a good idea for me to do this, but today really made me desire to attack in the free.

This makes me a little scared for what the FS layout will be but also a little excited. I like when Shoma is fired up and ready to attack. It makes me thing that his FS layout will be kind off like his 2016 TCC FS. He threw away his layout and just went out there and skated. He threw himself away into that program, which was ironically also Turandot. I liked his performance there because despite the mistakes he made he was smiling throughout most of the program, and I was smiling watching him. Shoma is a risk-taker, he's gutsy and you can never count him out. I had my fears and doubts because Shoma is unpredictable but I believe in him and if he's planning to attack the FS then I can't wait to watch him throw himself away again.:agree2:

yeah, they have mad love for Shoma's quads - maybe they're a bit envious lol

I just want him to skate clean and not have a horrible fall like at Boston Worlds 2016. Don't want him to make his injury worse. I like that he is determined to do his best but also a little worried.

that seems weird that they did not know that he was injured.

I don't think the Olympic channel commentators mentioned his injury either, or the layout changes, which I did find kind of weird :scratch2:

hopefully Shoma can rest up tomorrow and ice his foot. His health is the most important thing for sure.

I would expect that of Olympic channel, which are more focused on US skaters. But I thought B.Esp would be different.

Well, maybe they're busy with other things. But... SHOMITA!!! Such fighting spirit! Looked nervous in the warmup, but landed all his jumps there. The Italian crowd loves him. The young lady beside me was pointing him out to the older man beside her (dad? I dunno). "Shoma Uno! UNO!!" [emoji16] Risport was hiding his free postcard because he's too popular and they go fast when they're laid out on the counter. This is with less than one fourth of the crowd (maybe less than one fifth even) being Japanese. It's really a mixed crowd with people from different countries (many Italians of course), and the arena was quite full. I'm going to go walking around the arena tomorrow and taking picture of all his banners. [emoji16] I have yet to look at the protocols, but for his condition and what he accomplished with it, I'm happy with his score. [emoji4]

Added- Thanks, Arriba, for asking for the postcards! So glad I was with you when I visited the counter, haha.
