2017-18 State of Russian Ladies skating

so, next season is Quadrusova vs Axelnaya?
Mmm... that 3A being so good gives me some hope for a quad and also... Trusova getting 3A is a real possibility as well. Then Shcherbakova would hopefully get her quad and we would have three girls performing such jumps in juniors next season.

I know the 3A itself is amzing but boy her transition/steps going to it is what impresses me the most. The recent ladies who have been attempting the 3A like for example Nagasu literally abandoned/ sacrificed all preceeding choreo/TR/steps to focus on that one jump. Impressive

so, next season is Quadrusova vs Axelnaya?

They are sensational girls with great futures. Both may not reach 5 feet tall. They are 3 or 4 inches shorter than Alina which is to their advantage. Lets hope they stay healthy and set the bar high.

Now it occurs to me - this was the best female 3A in history I've ever seen 0_0 I really hope judges will think the same when they see it in competition.

someone mentioned the choreography of Panova's group
imo Panova's group is much better than Eteri's, with all respect I have for Daniil

Here are a few honorable mentions of Panova group's choreography:
Maria Sotskova 13-14 SP https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LI4AI8i_kDA
Anastasia Tarakanova 14-15 FS https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gv1Nqq6JHOc
Anastasia Kostyuk 16-17 SP https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VHEpHLjf9xY
Anna Frolova 17-18 SP https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2sgsLij0FAc&list=PL2I3vX6ZN-6JEoz46cQmnXZPM86ln3LPT&index=54

I don't understand Serafima's choice either. Sounds to me like she wasn't serious about skating. A shame, she looked promising while she was with Plushenko.

Gubanova needed to go the next level, her coach wasn't doing that for her. I hope it works out between her and Buyanova.
Let’s not judge Serafima without having all the information. It reminds me when everyone was judging Mao Asada for moving back to Japan while her coach Tarasova was in Russia. Many people on the forum had plenty to say how she was lacking commitment and didn’t take the skating seriously enough, and then we found out that her mother was very seriously ill and eventually died!

yes... Polina's axel is soooooooooooooo weak.... :rolleye:

I'm just reiterating others' arguments, I think people refer to julia and Evgenia (who are known for their weak axels) because they are eteri' most prominent skaters and had/have had longevity senior world. I don't think the common skating fan knows who akatieva is or are familiar with her axel technique

Let's not forget that today there was a local competition with short programs in juniors by Kostiuk and Sinitsyna as notables. Kostiuk 69.67 and Sinitsyna 71.54(could be mistakes, just going by what the announcer said in Russian and my Russian is ...). Anna Tarusina was competing in seniors and had 69.something. 69.24, I believe. All three clean.

Panova girls truly have great skating skills, both Sinitsyna and especially Kostiuk compare extremely favorably to just about anyone. Kanysheva's got amazing skating skills also.

Well, Stasya had a disastrous tourney, her nerves let her down, she's so much better than this. :(
I just hope you guys consider it's the worst moment of her career and give her a pass, thanks in advance.

Let's keep this thread the same way as before - classy and friendly.
