Shoma is royalty,
you can't expect him to fix his own clothes or worry about other stuff except for figure skating, gaming, sleeping and eating, he has people to do these things for him. lol

:sarcasm:Well, he’s spoken English a couple times (by reading katakana off of a piece of paper) but no, he doesn’t speak English. He’s said he wants to learn though

"Uno has gelato, if you have coin."I'm pretty sure this was at the banquet itself, where they had an ice cream parlour. Shoma is behind it and Kazuki's caption is Gelatoya-san. Which means that Shoma is the one selling the ice cream.![]()

Oh that's nice to hear! When he's in Chicago that's probably an opportunity to practice. When he learns I hope he does not learn with Katakana, as tempting as that my be as that only serves to help you pronounce English with a Japanese accent since it doesn't have letters. Maybe Satton can tutor him. Digressing a little here but I watched this clip recently comparing pronunciations for Japanese speakers and it can be a challenge: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5fS7CV5s0hw. For many years I've been studying Japanese and have watched a lot of media so to me they still sound like they are saying "girl" just with a Japanese accent. But someone like my mom might not catch it as "girl".![]()
He likes to play video games and TsumTsum was the one he was most attached to.
I am in Japan now for a short trip...this afternoon i went to a second hand book store by chance and found a megazine (kateigaho) shoma' interviewKinda unexpected to find that, sadly I cannot buy it cox it is too damn heavy (budget travel this time only 7kg luggage..) still good to see handsome shoma with hakama (Japanese formal wear) and some interview.
According to the description in the interview, the family crest of Uno is eagle (the crest looks like two feathers imo)
(Off topic hahaha) From my experience...generally Japanese speak English vocab with gairaigo pronounciation...the abuse of gairaigo has negative effect on their English pronounciation imo and it seems no one told Japanese gairaigo is NOT English...
Btw my boss (Japanese ofc) in previous company can speak quite good English, still he couldn't pronounce "April" well
okay after i am watching jun and rachel on youtube.there was a video about hakama and family crest.i wonder what is the meaning about shoma's family crest??
I'm new here but have been lurking for awhile. I think Shoma is a really great skater and I'm a big fan. I must say I'm astonished that the Silver medalist at the Olympics looks back on the year and thinks he had more bad comps than good ones! He won the gold medal at his challenger series event at the 2017 Lombardia Trophy in Bergamo, Italy; the gold medal at 2017 Skate Canada, placing first in both segments to begin his Grand Prix Series for the season, despite having the flu; at IdF placed second in the short program and first in the free skate to place second overall; at the 2017 Japan Figure Skating Championships, Uno successfully defended his national title (so two in a row Japanese champion); and capped it off with Silver at Worlds (after Silver at Olympics.)
Can you imagine how many skaters in the world dream of having such a season? I think he should be very proud - I hope he's more satisfied than he lets on in his blog. He's amazing!

Welcome Tyche! I'm also quite new around here but since everybody is so nice, I feel really comfy and I believe you'll be happy too.
I agree with you, he's being really hard on himself! I hope he can calmly look back at his season and feel proud of himself and see what all of us see in him. He's such a perfectionist and that's also what makes him so wonderful!
A little off topic, but I feel that he even looks more mature in all of his after Worlds pictures. After his toughening experience, he seems to have internally grown. Besides, I love his long hair look! Does anybody feel the same?
