Nathan Chen

It wasn't obvious from the uploaded video, but the crowd got *really* excited when they realized Patrick was introducing Nathan. LOL

Aww that’s great the crowd was super excited, very nice arrangement. Did he choreograph this as many moves resemble his recent ex and sp/fs well done if so. That’s too short he should do a mini tour maybe when he stops competing called Nathan and friends haha Marvelous.

i watched Nathan's new EX three times in a roll. I love it, I like the music, yes it is even autobiographical, the lyric, the moves etc. I like the melody of the song.
I think Nathan choreoed this himself, maybe within a day or two. He used many moves from his previous programs (nemesis, last dancer, no good, stole the show etc) and modified them (none of them is exactly the same) to fit the music. Quite a few brilliant ideas. The money paid for his various choreographers are well spent. Probably my fav EX from Nathan so far.

Did he buy that white shirt in Japan, I don't think it is the same white shirt he was wearing from his parachute.

now here comes critics.
I saw this comments on Youtube that I agree
"I think what Nathan really needs, to be a 'complete' skater, is: (1) better posture ( no hunched shoulders, extension of neck, stand up straighter, bend his knees more; increase edging of his blades, if possible); (2) moments of 'andante' (not the feeling that he's rushing through his entire program). Artistry needs "breathing" moments: that, IMO, would make him a more complete skater: he certainly has the technical ability; I think he just needs to have his coach work with him on these elements of his presentation"

Nathan needs to work more on his posture. he can look at no other than Javi, Patrick, Plushy in this show to get the idea (of his generation, Kolyada, Shoma). Nathan's shoulder blades is not naturally open, thus he needs to spend even more effort on his posture, I hunch too, it felt cool and casual some times, but the feeling of endless extension from your chest to all directions (up to your neck, ear, head, or sides ways to your shoulder, finger tips ) also feels great and it is beautiful (also very cool) to watch.

the breathing moment, this ex is very possibly choreoed by Nathan himself. it seems that he feel the need to put in moves for pretty much every single note (ofc every move is danced to the music due to his great musicality).but it is okay to leave some blank (like the idea of Nathan's last dancer program), to hold the edge/a move longer, to be patient with the phrasing, it will be okay Nathan boi. less sometimes in more not only can be applied in your fav costume style, it also hold true in dance/music/choreo concept/performance. You don't need to go full-out(energy wise) all the time to be considered a great performance (the layer of performance).

These are the artistic concepts that I wished Nathan's coaching team can enlighten him (he can choreo such a lovely piece himself, he already has so much innate talent in figure skating artistry), which is also what I appreciated from some of my fav choreographers and school of figure skating and it is an intelligence a high intelligence actually. Also this is my worry it maybe ignored, although, there is no doubt that Nathan can do every move in figure skating as he already collected in his figure skating treasure box.

This is a brilliant EX program, did he really choreograph it himself? My god, such a talent and beauty, we don’t deserve him :)

I agree with @oatmella tho, he does look wearing one shirt too many, lol

Here in So Cal, UCI actually has a strong bio engineer and partnerships with some renown labs with international research teams. As for pre-med they’re not with Harvard but many benefit from double major and doing more bio than med in their careers.

Personally I think UCI is an OK school but not an elite school. If Nathan wants to stay in Southern California for skating training, UCLA would be a better choice.

watching Nathan and Javi's introductions of Patrick. how they speak in public,
I noticed another funny thing.
it is kinda like his performance. Nathan seems feel obliged to speak all the time without breaking a single breath:biggrin:, compare to Javi, the art of breath(those little pauses)
I guess this is what people refer as that mystical "maturity" in figure skating (or maybe in life too).
Nathan is very smart, he will grow, he will get there, I trust him.:luv17:

I never would have thought I needed to see Nathan skate to Ravel’s Bolero - but that was really nice💕
Nathan has the best fluidity of arm movement - he moves through poses so beautifully and seamlessly. I think some of that comes from ballet, but some of it is just Nathan😍

Yeah, he really has the best arms. You can see the difference between him and Patrick and Javi. Even though I don't think his moves were choreographed at all it seemed to flow with the music.

You can also see it in the opening group number. He and Kana really stand out from the others.
