I'm not sure if that was really meant to be a kiss, but it was probably directed towards Coach Yamada? I think she was there then. I wonder if he knows how many fans he killed with that [emoji8]. [emoji13]
That was my best guess was that it was for Yamada. I couldn't imagine who else it would have been for -- not even Fluffy! That mischievous look on his face just cracks me up and is precious! I'm going to believe that it's a kiss, just because I want to! :laugh2: And if you turn the volume up super loud, it really does sound like it.

Shoma Special: (from right bottom in anti-clockwise direction)
1. Tan: Tongue. Shoma and Itsuki always have it with sauce (shoyu)
2. Ro-su: Loin
3. Kainomi: Bottom flap (source: http://iso-labo.com/labo/beaf_parts.html#beaf14)

It looks like "kainomi" is rare (Tan and Ro-su are common, I don't really know which part ro-su belongs to but only remember it's delicious :P)

I thought the Shoma special was cow tongue based on the Itsuki yakiniku interview.

EDIT: If you play the video, at 4:30 they show the "Shoma Special" (they actually call it that!). Its three dishes, written in Japanese so I'm not sure what they are.

Thread with translation of highlights of Shoma's recent Friends + interview with Shizuka Arakawa:
https://twitter.com/redgreendress/status/981920399805034497

1.2 He tells Shizuka about his diet philosophy: "There was a time when I was careful with my diet - two years ago before Worlds. I ate vegetables and watched what I ate. I don't mean to say those things are related, not at all, but things didn't turn out so well for me [laugh]

Commentary for the Worlds LP by Rudi Cerne, former figure skater, from ZDF, german public broadcaster. As usual, I'm not a professional, and I don't mean any offense by posting this!

And now we have Shoma Uno from Japan, silver medalist from PyeongChang and he has planned quite a bit.
Two Quadruples, right at the start, starting with the Quad Loop out of the edge. This was not to be overlooked, 4 points deduction for this high BaseValue of 12,00.

Now keep your tail up, Quad Flip is next. Already slipped away at the starting jump position with his left leg, of course he realises this right away, and tried to make it work, two falls in the first minute. Still 3 1/2 to go.

Triple Loop, the audience here likes that! They know it, of course, this man has to fight. He is fifth after the short.

Overturns the triple Axel, this element will also be punished with deductions, -1,40.

Nessun Dorma is now his Long program music, from Giacomo Puccini from Turandot.

Oh no, this is a true debacle now, third fall, now at the Quadruple Toeloop, not much is coming together.

But now again! He pulls himself together, quadruple Toeloop (sic!) triple Toeloop, unbelievable! He doesn't hang his head, he doesn't throw in the towel and fights 'til the end!

Hoho! Triple Axel in combination with a triple Flip, he really does accelerate now! Admirable, Shoma Uno, 20 years old. That's a final spurt!

My goodness, the audience goes upside down. And rightly so. What started as a fiasco, ends in a festival of triple and quadruple Jumps. Right at the end this lovely combination of a triple Axel, triple flip which means the lead for Shoma Uno at the moment, the silver medallist of PyeongChang, but there are 4 strong skaters still to go.

Thanks for the translation. Love this part!

Thank you. What all of the commentators had in common is the absolute appreciation of how Shoma came back after the start, and all of them had no idea about his foot problem. The only translation left is German Eurosport (This time we had three different versions in Germany, nice!) Here comes the SP.

Eurosport Germany, Commentator: Petra Bindl, Shoma Uno SP, Milan Worlds 2018

Altogether there were 37 Men participating at this short. The best 24 qualify for the free skate. That shouldn't be a problem for him, second at the Olympic WinterGames, for Shoma Uno, who now finishes this competition, but he also seems to lower his difficulties on the technical side. He won't show the Quadruple Flip, which he always showed during the season, also at PyeongChang during the short. But of course, the men were celebrated, Yuzuru Hanyu and him, when they got Gold and Silver, so the preparation was cut short for the World Championship in Milan.

Instead of the Flip, we see the Toeloop here at the beginning of the short.

And of course this is bitter here, only triple salchow, which he planned in combination, quad Salchow, triple Toeloop. He left many, many points on the table and he was coming here with the goal to get his first World Champion title and because he was the only of the three medal winners of PyeongChang this was a legitimate goal. And another slip, a little wobble, but like I said earlier, it's certainly fatigue, preparation wasn't optimal for this last big competition of the 2017/2018 season.

Pity, pity, but he knows this right now. Shoma Uno, otherwise he is a terrific figure skater. He brings everything, that is needed to become one of the greatest, to follow into the footsteps of Yuzuru Hanyu, he is still so young, turned 20 years old in December and I'm sure we will see many, many highlights still from his side. And the most important is that the difference to the leaders is not too high so that he can at least stay in contention for a medal.

He wasn't only second at the last Olympics, he was also second at last years Worlds. And here we see it again, what a huge slip, then also only a double toeloop at the end there, a completely, completely crashed combination, he left many points on the table here, the Japanese.

His coach is still smiling, because she knows what her charge can do, what he is able to do, what he already achieved this season. Usually he is a sure 100 points and more candidate in the short. Today it'll be less. But like I said, it's about the difference and keeping it small to the medal ranks, everything will be open in the long.

94,26 so, 2 1/2 points behind the third place, Vincent Zhou. This is absolutely doable, because he is so much stronger in the program component scores compared to the young U.S. American.

^^ I like seeing the commentary from other countries, especially when commentary in my own country (US) is disappointing.

Shoma and Alina are so cute :luv17:

If Zhenya and Yuzuru are good friends I hope Alina and Shoma can be good friends too ;)

But, really, is being good-looking a qualification to figure skate?!

Great first post.

I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic (oh internet) or if I've made some kind or mistake and been offensive. If I have I do apologize. But it's just my opinion. Whatever flavor of commentator works for you works. As long as it helps you enjoy the program.

And I was planning on having an actual introduction, but since I am here - hi! I'm Jesse and I'm new to the forums. Been into figure skating for two years, though I know a lot more about the men's field than other disciplines. Shoma is my fave. I love his spins and artistry and his work ethos.

Welcome to Shoma's thread. His spins are so amazing, especially his headless spins. I love it when he spins so fast he really does look headless.
