What are you listening to right now?

yes yes! Two of hearts will now be stuck in my head all night hahaha:dance2:

Haha!! Lolz.. I grew up with a stack of records and VHS tapes from the 80’s. Two of Hearts was a song I always requested my parents to put on. The other favorite song of mine back then.....

I really cannot remember when I felt simply mesmerized by the whole album last time - and it is definitely a case with self-titled one of Isaac Gracie. For me, there is no one lacklustre song there, every single one deserves attention, deserves to be a single, to have a video, to get people to know it, the story of it. The whole package - voice, way of singing, composition of songs, lyrics, vibe, style - is just soothing, so comfortable to be surrounded with. Definitely someone I will try to see live.

'That was then (live version)', probably my fave out of whole album https://youtu.be/uiARpgHYzNk

(Yes um I am that person who listens to both Katy and Taylor without shame...it's like stanning both Virtue/Moir and Papadakis/Cizeron)

I'm doing a "play by myself skating music" afternoons this week. So far I've played Schlinder's List, Send in The Clowns, Hallelujah, Hope and Legacy, Winter (Vivaldi's Four Seasons), Meditation von Thàis, Autumn Leaves, Danse Macabre, Fix You, Everglow, and plenty of Chopin. I'm probably leaving something out.
I'm so glad I can rely on the internet! If I had to do the piano versions by myself it'd take too long and I wouldn't be able to do this
I'm good at sight-reading in piano, so it doesn't sound that bad

A few months ago, I mentioned that I would be going to an Ulster Orchestra concert in my hometown in April. Well, it was last night. And it was a disappointment compared to the one I went to in a neighbouring town last year.

The first thing to say is that unlike the last one (which was in a glorified tent), this one was in an actual theatre. And, hence, the accoustics were a lot better. But, whereas the big tent was packed to the rafters, the smaller theatre was only about two-thirds occupied.

And it was a much smaller orchestra. Probably because the stage was much smaller.

After the last concert, I complained that it was a bit on the short side. Well, although this one was around the same length in terms of music, it seemed shorter. Admittedly, this was partly because the interval was shorter, meaning that the time from start to finish was shorter. But, the fact that they only played four pieces made it seem shorter as well.

We started with the Overture from Rossini's "Barber Of Seville". It may have been only 7 minutes long, but it was highly enjoyable!

The rest of the first half consisted of Mozart's "Clarinet Concerto in A major, K.622". The soloist was a guy from Sicily, and if I am totally honest, he spoiled the concert for me. He is one of these musicians that is always moving an swaying when he is playing, to the extent that it was distracting from the music. But, it was what he was doing when he wasn't playing that was the most annoying. He was constantly repositioning his reed, cleaning the clarinet with a bit of paper, or blowing into the keyholes. This blowing really took the biscuit as, because he was standing in front of the orchestra, we were hearing it over the music that was being played!

Into the second half, and it started with the conductor speaking to us for the only time during the concert. At the last concert, the conductor spoke to us about every piece that was played. But, maybe that was because that conductor was Irish, and this one was a Kiwi. Anyway, he was explaining that we were going to get a bonus track compared to what was written in the programme. And that, whereas the composers of all the other pieces were dead, this one wasn't. It was a strings piece by Belfast composer Neil Martin. I'm not sure what it was called, but the conductor wasn't kidding when he said it had a depressing feel to it.

We ended with Mendelssohn's "Symphony No. 4: Italian". Of the two half-hour pieces, this one was more enjoyable to listen to than the Mozart one. The only problem was that I had made the mistake of not going walkies during the interval. And, hence, I was getting very uncomfortable.

Now that I think of it, very few people did leave their seats during the interval. Which is very strange, because for every other show I have gone to since that theatre opened back in 2000, there has been a mass exodus to the bar during the interval.

Another thing I was disappointed in is that there were no encores. After the Mendelssohn piece, the orchestra took their bows, and then the conductor went off backstage. When he came back, we thought "aha! Encore time!" But he just took another bow, and then everybody left the stage.

I think they were in a rush to get away, because when we were coming out of the auditorium a few minutes later, a bus was outside the front door, and there were members of the orchestra getting into it already.

Overall, it was a good night out. But I preferred their other concert last year.

This is the third time I have seen the Ulster Orchestra live. The first time was a full-length open-air concert (Proms In The Park); the second time was a shorter concert in a big tent; and the third time was a shorter concert in a small theatre.

Based on all this, I would now like to see them do a full-length concert in a bigger theatre. Because I think that this is where they would be at their best.
