Nathan Chen

@oatmella
Also the Flying Flip also has sth behind it. Flip jump when only done properly can flying very far. Like Nathan's Flip.

If we are hoping for something original from Nathan ... is tango it, though?

Since some were saying Chopin/Mozart has been used in too many programs already

And it seems no shortage of tango programs for comparison

I think it’s more hat Nathan has already done an Chopin. If he continues to do the same styles, he won’t grow as a skater. If he did an Argentine Tango to a warhorse, it would be boring because we’ve heard the song so many times. But with an original song and the chance to make it his own, he could surprise us.

haha, so many Nathan acronyms created here:

VV, lwc, SL, FF, VPFN (Vampire Program for Nathan, ok I just made that one up :D)

I’m loving the Argentine tango idea too. I just want something really dancey and intense for the SP next season, be it latin, tango or even flamenco. And honestly I don’t think it’s too mature for Nathan. Ice dancers have to learn the Argentine tango compulsory dance as part of the SD. And some are as young as Nathan. So if they can do it, so can Nathan. This could really push him outside his comfort zone and would be a really fun experience :D

idk - from a dance perspective, there's really a ton that can be done that is dancey/intense without having to do Latin dance genre at all.

I don't find it a particularly necessary program to do (unless that's what Nathan wants)

Mozart? I didn't kr any famous Mozart program. maybe there are some out there.
Two of my favourite Mozart programs (not that there are that many lol but I really love these two programs):
P/C skated to Mozart piano concerto No.23 (2nd mvt) and No.13 (3rd mvt) in their breakthrough season,

The No. 23 portion takes inspiration from the contemporary ballet choreo Le Parc:

Satoko Miyahara also did an SP to Magic Flute selections (Nichol Choreo):

Gabi's dress ... soooo pretty

Didn't Kolyada do his SP this season to piano concerto 23+tango?

I don’t think anything is really necessary in skating, when learning new styles. Although, ballet training certainly helps. ;)

But I think it’s very important to expand ones own experience with dance, not just for the style but for the character and the challenge. Nathan has already done contemporary, ballet, lyrical, hip hop, broadway, etc. he can do more diverse styles featuring different cultural styles as well. But AT would challenge him in a different way. I think it would be good for him.

P/C are breathtaking in all their classical pieces, just love Cizeron how carries her. Satoko looks so in sync with the music here and love the overall flow, I can see herself shining through the program. Always love this Kostner piece, I think it’s one of her best. Thanks.

Stephane Lambiel's Tango Otoño Porteño (another Piazzola): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l7Hkjfql4dg

Ok this is a good performance to support why Nathan can do a tango Argentine or nuevo etc, his arms and fingers have the tango sass and movements, the intensity already exists :) but then again he can do justice pretty much to most genres, I personally just pray no warhorses.

Indeed - I saw so much of that finger sass and intensity already in Nemesis

🙋🏻*♀️ Yaas I saw them too, one of the reasons I love Nemesis, the choreography contains a fusion of lots of different dances, Nathan is a sponge or blank piece of paper, you can do so much with him it’s crazy exciting! *you as in choreographers, musicians and coaches* haha

What about a jookin inspired program:

https://youtu.be/FiWZWRDIUD0

There’s already been jookin/ballet crossover so why not FS lol ... and if you continue watching the video - doesn't that music sound familiar :D
https://youtu.be/kLItrFI7k_w

I think Nathan really has it in him to do truly original programs that haven’t been already done in FS

But I’m sure he could do a great AT program

Thanks for suggesting Mozart program,
I can see and understand it might be a good fit for Nathan, considering my understanding of Nathan's personality and also at least in one stage of his life, he likes Mozart.

A mozart long and A intense dancy(maybe tango) SP that requires some out-ward flirt and charisma to push him outside of his comfort zone maybe a good combination for him.

for the ex I wanna a super lyrical number:biggrin:, that will force him to hold his edges and breathe, and really hone and demonstrate his smooth SS.

Oh wow love it!!! Why not it may send shock through the judging panel but let’s do it Nathan, pushing the technical elements now it’s time you push the artistry to a whole new level.
