No problem, it's just someone mentioned it & we joked that he would do her program lol (this was way before any of the news came out).
Just watched it! Would love English subtitles if/when they become available. It was heartbreaking to see Evgenia fall and struggle, and it makes me appreciate her performances at EC and Olympics even more. To answer your question, I really don't know, but I suspect she would have, because the Russian Fed wouldn't have felt the need to back Alina as much (hence Alina's PCS wouldn't have been crazy high, and I say this as an Alina fan). I suspect Eteri and co were worried Zhenya would leave if she didn't win Olympic Gold, hence their muted reactions and lack of celebration of Alina's gold. After watching the documentary, I am happy Evgenia is leaving and hopefully going to Orser. She deserves a new perspective, a team that will be nurturing, and a second chance at all this.

I know, was too busy to watch when it was posted, so I had to dig back in the thread to find it. It's a great documentary, so I wanted to repost it so more people have the chance to watch it and hopefully someone will be nice enough to make a subtitled version.

Agreed. It was hard for rusfed to let Zhenya leave Eteri after 11 years together. No way wold they allow Alina at just 15 and recent olympic champion leave Eteri after only 3 years. Alina is happy with Eteri while Zhenya wants change. Its okay.

Raf's hot-take on Zhenya going to Orser, so funny. He's crazy. I bet he would've loved to have her. They would've had a funny dynamic (not that I would ever want her to go to him, it's just a funny thought)

Interesting take on Eteris muted reaction to Alinas gold. Maybe she had a feeling like you said no gold for Zhenya means no more Zhenya. Quite possible.

That‘s actually an interesting thought. People keep nitpicking on the fact that Zhenya‘s just Eteri‘s favourite (what‘re they going to say about this move, anyway?) and that‘s why she reacted like this. But Eteri‘s clever and she knows Zhenya has been building and working on this moment for so many years now and with what her injury happening and her already being surpassed by Alina, she‘d want to either retire when not getting this OGM or change coach. Maybe she knew. And the reaction in the kiss & cry was not a: „Dang, my darling lost“ but rather a: „Dang, now I‘m going to lose my most promising student to another coach.“

Can we please not attack Zhenya just yet. Eteri has proven herself to be very harsh about students who have left and completely blame them and to lie e.g about Polina’s knee. Zhenya whilst she is very competitive doesn’t seem to have a sly streak in her and can we have faith in her behaviour from the last three years which has been above reproach and her friendships around the world in figure skating in the absence of any further information. I can’t tell you guys what to think but I believe Zhenya considerably over Eteri
