True. But many of us saw Zhenya Eteri different because of their 11 year partnership. Some of us actualy believed she was Eteri's second daughter. They are only human afterall. I hope Eteri pulls back tomorrow and lets Zhenya leave in peace.

That's what I worry in these days...
I doubt she did that without RusFed. Eteri rarely gives interviews and she said no comment on Friday I think, when she was asked.
So something might have happened meanwhile.

Zhenya did not ask Eteri and/or Alina to keep Alina in Juniors, I don't understand where this is coming from, mistranslation? According to Eteri, she said to Eteri after the FS at the Olympics "why couldn't you have kept Alina in Juniors for one more year?" Considering Zhenya's state at the time, she could have said all sorts of things she didn't seriously mean.

I doubt the fed is favouring Eteri and hating on Med that much given that several other students of Eteri are also leaving. Also Eteri is the type who did not care to look at Putin (she has guts), I doubt she would just follow Russian fed's order to talk badly on their star right now just because Med wants to go to a foreign coach.
But Eteri is also very smart and business oriented.... I doubt she would do something without a back.... but it's my opinion, of course.
And who else is leaving her?

)), cause she just talked about her quads in her interview, last night.Did no one else take Eteri coming for Orser as confirmation Med is indeed going to TCC? Why else would she be that pressed about him, and out of nowhere too? That didn't feel like it was really about Trusova to me...guess we'll find out in a few more hours.

It would have been nice if that was the case, but sadly Eteri has a clear trackrecord here, of behaving in this same way with all other skaters that have left her (Lipnitskaya, Pitkeev). She's always engaged in this kind of trash-talking and mud-slinging against ex-students, so it was perhaps wishful thinking that she wouldn't do this to Zhenya. It's classless and unprofessional and extremely immature and hopefully the Russian public and Zhenya's fans will be smart enough to see the pattern here and that this is a case where Eteri's behaviour says much more about Eteri and the type of person she is, than it does about Zhenya. Even now, years later, in interviews Eteri will still throw in subtle little digs at Lipnitskaya and Pitkeev when comparing and contrasting skaters or giving examples. It's just so tacky and unfair. I sincerely hope we are not in for years of her subtly trash-talking Zhenya, who she all too recently considered a "second daughter" supposedly.
Moving to train and live overseas with a new coach in a country where the language is not her mother tongue (yes, her English is very good, but it's still not the same) and while still battling an injury, all will be a difficult enough adjustment as it is, I very much hope that potential backlash from the Russian public, media and fans won't make this even harder for Zhenya, and that her reputation is not damaged by this - it's Eteri's who this reflects poorly on, not Zhenya. And maintaining Rissian public support will be important to her because it appears she really loves Russia and is very proud to skate for her nation and is really bolstered by the support of her fans. For practical reasons, it's also important for her to continue receiving sponsorships and endorsements, all the more because she will now be paying a significant amount of money to live and train overseas, whereas under the RusFed system, her costs of training with Eteri were pretty much fully covered. Plus it would put her in a better position to be selected by Rusfed to go to various events. It will be hard for her to represent Russia but train elsewhere, this is very common with skaters from other nationalities, but seems a lot less common with the Russians, they are more insular and highly nationalistic in how they see things.

I doubt Eteri knows for sure if Zhenya is going to Canada, since they haven't spoken in a while. It might be because the media points to him as the most likely choice, but she doesn't have the certainty....
