2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

Now my trustworthy insider says that Evgenia is going to Plushenko. This is a 100% trustworthy information from the trustworthy insider.

I know you’re probably being sarcastic but I would low key love this to happen. The two Zhenyas will unite and conquer figure skating in Russia. 😛

Yeees, and everyone expresses her/his opionions so.... open and
everyone has an inside source or a private conversation with the persons directly involved.
It's just... epic.:drama:

i guess they like infinity war or game of throne. and a lot of bad blood between coaches in russia. Evgenia has a lot of supporters. enemy of my enemy is my friend:biggrin:

I love Russia

He was actually quite reasonable. Basically thinks it's normal to switch coaches because the athlete decided it'd be more comfortable with the other coach, that Zhenya is ready for a long, hard working 4 years, there could be a very good result and Orser is a good coach.

I think Eteri is being ridiculously unprofessional with this whole thing - that said, I think some of it might be cultural. Russian coaches in general seem much more open to discussing drama and spilling tea than most non-Russian coaches. We've seen it with Raf, too. At the same time, when Raf is negative about his skaters, it seems much more honest, whereas what Eteri is doing is more trying to get the media on her side and turn everyone against Evgenia, whereas I did not get that impression from Raf ever.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to more official news, and as an Evgenia fan, I'm excited to see her moving on somewhere new. She's probably maxed out under Eteri and needs new eyes and new strategies to improve her skating.

Raf is of Soviet origin. So I think his mentality doesn't differ much from Russian coaches. Btw, I can't remember any top Russian coach who is used to spilling the tea like Eteri.

Russians seem to value loyalty and nationalism, so they don't have good eyes for someone (even being Evgenia) who leaves like that after 11 years of what it looked a perfect coach-skater relationship. And also they don't seem to like the fact that Evgenia will train abroad with a non Russian coach.

Yeah he didn't say anything messy LOL. Just amusing when everyone's gotta to put in a word - it's authentic Russian Drama™

"Я буду продолжать выступать за Российскую Федерацию, оставаясь в школе «Самбо-70», тренируясь при этом у канадского специалиста Брайана Орсера. Делаю я это для того, что бы использовать новые возможности и другие методики тренировочного процесса и продолжать представлять Россию на самом высоком уровне."

Ah, I'll add a brief translation to the quote even though mine isn't good enough for me to really translate Russian. But from what I can tell it says she'll stay with Russia, represent Sambo-70 and train with Brian Orser.
