Polina Tsurskaya leaves Tutberidze

I don't know if it's "Big name students" but Serafima Sakhanovich and to some extent Adian Pitkeev had a "peaceful" departure I think.

I mean...if you think running away because your coach forced you to keep skating injured which ultimately ended your career is leaving on good terms, sure, Adian left "peacefully." And she bashed him plenty in the press. Sima is really the only one who escaped her wrath.

I know that, it's just that I remember she praised the fact he brought her flowers and said goodbye while her others students did not (well it's what she said..). But I agree that his departure was far from ideal.

I honestly don't get this argument.

I don't get it either. Sure, the group is competitive, but not more competitive than Eteri's even if she will have only two seniors girls. Seems like politics in Russia don't want 3 girls from Eteristan or Sambo-70 on podium at nats, so it would have been hard for her to get big competitions spots with Eteri anyway.
For the moment, i would say that Sotskova is the most pushed by Buyanova. But Polina has more than the potential to win Buyanova's love and be the third girl on that podium. She just have to be healthy.
Tsurskaya and Gubanova are for me the biggest potentials of that group (but Guba can even still junior if Buyanova doesn't get her at least the Rostelecom host spot. Challengers are hardly enough to get a little reputation).

I dont think Gubanova will stay in juniors... I mean, Trusova and Kostornaya are still there, Tarakanova is back on ice afaik, and there are more up and coming.
Actually, Gubanova has better chances with seniors, imho.

And also I don't think TAT would have involved in her programs just for juniors.

Maybe. But well it's not like she can't beat some Eteri's girls. She didn't get a junior worlds spot and have practically no chances to get 2 GPs because of Chebotareva and Tarasova's politicking for Konstantinova. Ironically, TAT is making her programs this year. Like Zounger said it's maybe not just for juniors. So maybe she's moving.

Why would she bash Buyanova? Buyanova is usually quite complimentary to Eteri and her students. I've got the impression that she even somewhat admires Eteri and her students from the interviews I've read with Elena.
Then why is she bashing Orser? Orser hasn’t even said a bad word about her. Or maybe because he isn’t Russian.

Probably because of the Trusova comment that she probably took the wrong way. Plus emotions are high with Evgenia leaving and all. Remember Pitkeev left for Buyanova as well and I don't remember Eteri saying anything bad about Elena.

Gezz the interview Orser did with Vaiset (sorry I couldn’t pronounce her name) has stated clearly that Orser’s comment was about the safety of the kids not about banning quads at young age. Apparently she didn’t read that one? Oh maybe Eteri can’t stand Vaiset as well.

Russian figure skater Polina Tsurskaya is satisfied with the new training process and the approach of Elena Buyanova to athletes. Tsurskaya told TASS about this.

Earlier it became known that the 16-year-old figure skater had ceased cooperation with Eteri Tutberidze, in whose group Tsurskaya had been engaged since 2013. The athlete confirmed to TASS that now she trains in CSKA under the leadership of Buyanova.

"This is a completely new approach to me, I like everything very much. The training process is interesting, and it goes well. I do not want to look into the past and talk about the reasons for such changes, all the same the main thing is what is now," said Tsurskaya.

Did Orser have to clarify his statement later? Because when it was published on VK it sounded like he called Trusova a one hit wonder who more than likely wouldn't be able to do those jumps as a senior. But I didn't read the original article, maybe neither did Eteri and she took offense  Like I said, emotions were high, she had just lost Evgenia.

Many of the things Eteri said really were quite inappropriate, but getting angry to Orser for his comment about Trusova is one of the things I consider perfectly justified. That's such a rude and negative thing to say about such an amazing, young lady. And honestly, I didn't see it the way you did at all. He just was making excuses. "Concerned", as if. That's just a front.

I really am interested in the differences in their approach to training. Kostornaia said that it was quite a difference when she joined Eteri's group. I assume with Buianova they will not be training as hard but I really am curious about what the focus is, exactly.

That might not be a bad thing for Polina since she's struggled with injuries.

Of course someone never read the interview has some say.

It's perfectly justified if Eteri says she didn't like Brians comments, or answers with any form of reasonable adult arguments. But complete and childish nonsense like "It seems our success hurts him so we must train even harder to hurt him even more" is just... what the actually freaking what? I had to read that 3 times before I believed my eyes. There is a big difference between defending your skaters and acting like a 5-year old who got told her plush toy isn't the prettiest on the playground.
(And while I didn't like Brians original comment - or what it appeared to be - either, I'd hardly call it "rude" to wonder if she'll be able to still land quads in seniors.)

Also, how do you know "concerned" is just a front? Is it for everyone or just Orser? Is it such an unbelievable concept that people might wonder how the bodies of still growing young girls will deal with a kind of strain and pressure never applied to female bodies before by not just practicing quads, but several types, and that with what appears to be a bigger 'work load' then elsewhere too? Is it so unreasonable that after we had other students of Eteri suffering health issues that seem to be related to overtraining or not taking injuries serious enough (most apparent example: Adian), people are concerned for young girls in the same environment doing what they do? We shouldn't condemn Eteri for something that hasn't happened yet - Sasha &Co are healthy (and hopefully will stay healthy), so taking the pitchforks and chasing her round the village for 'ruining' them is ridiculous too. But just voicing concerns is normal
And if Brian was apparently so irked with Sashas quads, he could actually advocate for a higher age limit. But he isn't.

A++ post, thank you! This is really at the crux of the issue -- the health of young girls -- not the eternal kindergarden "who did what" game. :disagree:

Also, loving the subtle shade thrown by Polina at Eteri's training methods. Very subtle. :)

Its nowhere near the level of Yuna's and Orser "breakup" level, no accusations of lies, no money issues and so on, or at least so far they manage to keep above that level.
I dunno, Orser and Eteri throwing shade at each other just makes the off season more entertaining so far, some nice FS drama.
