Yuzuru Hanyu: 2017-2018

After rewatching Nice 2012, I still cannot get over the raw passion that he emitted from the performance. Although, both artistically and technically he has had much better programs, R&J 1 just drew me in. I liked H&L and Seimei, but the loud and dramatic music fit him so well- especially as a younger skater.

Same here:).
After reading the thread last night, inadvertently I clicked the "play" button ... big mistake! I repeated the program (R&J 1.0. at Nice) 4 or 5 times in a row.

Simply couldn't stop watching, though it's not like that I've not watched it before. What kind of magic did he use? Now I feel really tired from lack of sleep at work:sarcasm:.

I think it would be fun if everyone posted WHY they liked these performances, too!

The best performance of R&J for me was in Nice, but GPF was a wake up call after having watched him in other competitions. It was very close to the clean performance and it drew the audience (and me) in, I think he left great impressions on the skating fans and the judges.
And after that, he got bronze medal at the nationals winning in FS, and then Nice happened. He was quite someone already IMO and here I am now

It was Nice 2012 for me.

I feel lonely and am looking for my company

While I love pretty much every performance I've seen (never claimed to be critical, me) I think the Nice free program hits me harder for the same reason as the 2018 Olympics Seimei (the latter was the second Yuzu performance I watched and remains my absolute favourite, even above his perfect world records). I love the fierceness he brings to both of them, the wild edge you can see: in both cases he was fighting even harder than usual, harder and fiercer than most skaters can even dream, and it's spellbinding how he can control and use that fight to fly higher. He was such a fierce, spellbinding little figure in Nice, so young and sweet-faced and tough....

And the Olympics Seimei, when it was so brilliant but at the same time so uncertain if his injury would let him hold out... the breathtaking emotion just grabbed me (and this was after the fact; I have no IDEA how you folk, who watched it live, even breathed for that four and a half minutes)

A sport entertainment program will be aired on May 25 from 19:00 on NTV, there is going to be docudrama of Yuzuru including Orser's interview.

Young actor, Kenshin Endo plays the role of Yuzuru. I don't know him but he is 17 and 179 cm tall, and plays basketball.

Next weekend will be very busy :hap85:

I had been laboring under the impression (from having watched skating 5 years previously) that Japanese skaters weren't very good at performing, -I hadn't watched skating for a few years. My sister showed me Daisuke and Yuzu's performances from Nice 2012 and that showed me how wrong I had been. So from 2012, I became a Daisuke and Yuzuru fan.

Didn't you watch Mao or Shizuka?

I hadn't watched anything for about 2 Olympic cycles. I missed Vancouver and Torino for sure. Sometimes it would come up and I'd glance at it, but I wasn't really a fan as an adult until I saw Dai and Yuzu. Waaay back as a child I watched the Nagano Olympics and really liked Elvis.

Once I started watching again, I became a fan of ALL of team Japan and figure skating in general, I went back and caught up with some of the great performances I had missed. (Side note, I started on this site with the username Newbie- and then, after a few years requested to have it changed to Inter-)

Back in Nice 2012, I was following Ice Dance (Meryl and Charly 4EVER), and I was looking for the results of WC and article made reference to Yuzuru´s program and I look it out and as people say right now I was shook. Since them I have followed from time to time.... sometimes it gets too intense for me.
