Slutskaya announces retirement

I was wondering why she made the announcement (according to the false article) without first informing her coach. Since she apparently never actually said she was retiring, that explains it!

And I was so excited, originally, to have been the first one to post the exciting news! Sorry for the misinformation.

Hey - no worries! It would be logical to assume at her age - and in a post-Olympic season that she has not yet competed in - that Irina would be retiring. Whether she comes back or not, I think it is up to her to make a grand departure - with lots of fanfare. And if she does decide to stick around for another season or two - then even more power to one great lady.

The rumor-denying article was also just featured on Gmail (those of you with Gmail, I'm talking about the "news strip" on top of the site). ESPN also has this article now.

OOf wrong article, that was the phony. It was first in line on the Gmail. What did you get, where is the link you made reference to. I went though all gmails articles on skating and did not get what you are reporting. where is it?

Yes, but it was mainly true - Totmianina and Vasiliev were seriously involved for a couple of years as a romantic couple. I interviewed her myself and she never denied for publication her longstanding relationship with Oleg, just the part that they were engaged.

Oh, I know. But the article I recall had quotes from Maxim regarding Tatiana's and Oleg's upcoming wedding plans!
