Jason Brown

Hmmm … more re usage of "first" in reference to coach Kori:

Excerpt from the G2C blurb re Jason and Marla's presentation:

Hear the story behind the unique relationship between Jason and his mother Marla as they give us an inside look at steering through the waters of big time sports and how they have managed to stay close through it all, including the involvement of Kori Ade, Jason's first and longtime coach.

Somehow I have a different reaction to seeing "first" in print vs. hearing that snippet from Jason on Instagram story.

And while we're on Jason's June schedule;)

I had a previous post about Jason doing a fundraiser in New Jersey. Now the fundraiser has its very own "Skate with Jason" website, with all sorts of incentives (Jason critiques your routine, Jason has lunch, etc)

The weekend after Grassroots 2 Champions, so could Jason possibly stop somewhere in between NoVa and NJ (like Pennsylvania ;) ) that week?

The grassroots to champions event is in Missouri. Audrey Weisinger and Jason are others are presenting, coaching, teaching, speaking, etc, but the seminar is organized by a group of St Louis area figure skating clubs.

Oops, I just assumed it was at Audrey’s “home” rink:o:

No Pennsylvania stop for Jason then......

I'm sure you've all seen the video from last night where Jason reaches out to the audience member, but it's just too good not to have in here. I'm sorry this show is coming to an end, but I hope this means Jason's ankle will be able to heal faster now.

It is so great!

Re the ankle: I have the feeling we will probably not see him compete before Glacier Falls or Philadelphia Open at the earliest.

It was so funny when I saw this ... one distinct memory I have of the Allentown show is seeing Jason reach out with his hand during DEH, to my side of the rink, and I thought, he's looking straight at me. But he's not, it's just how good he is at this, but wow, it really had that effect. I can see why the audience member reacted:biggrin:

A tweet from Jason about his ankle: https://twitter.com/jasonbskates/status/998104628448251909
Hopefully after the last show today he'll get a chance to really rest and heal :)

Thanks for posting that - sad to hear he’s been in pain - but he never lets on and still gives a million percent, doesn’t he?

Sadly for Karne, I would be really surprised if he’s ready for the Peggy Fleming comp at Broadmoor. It’s been 3 weeks since he injured it, and although I’m sure he will heal more quickly now the tour is done, I can’t help but thinking of how difficult it was for Adam to do toe jumps. And Hanyu. Different injuries, yes. But clearly this one can’t be rushed.

I definitely agree that he still gives a million percent! His optimism and dedication are some things I admire so much about him

I wrote a super long SOI review in the main thread, but I did want to mention a few additional things on Jason:

Here's cute little moment with Toddler P: When Jason skated toward the tunnel and started waving at people after his "Room Where it Happens", she waved back at him! She was squirmsville for both of his numbers -- which made it all the amazing that I still came away enjoying his numbers -- his projection and energy is just that good. I suppose she still could feel his audience connection, even in that tiny way!

Jason's inability to not do jumps during this last part of SOI (including today) really made me appreciate how much he's improved in his basic skating. I know I've said this a lot in the last year, but I really have enjoyed seeing that aspect of growth. A lot of people make a big deal about jumps--but I feel like in the long run, working on the non-jump stuff continually will help him in the long-run.

I'm am really, really glad he did an upbeat number and that Rohene convinced him to do so... he needed to have fun! I think he has plenty of time to translate his feelings in future programs.

He did his "Vote for Adam" pitch that he's been doing for the last few shows. He and Adam had a cute moment where at the end of the first part of "You Will Be Found" finale, where they're in black and they're skating toward the tunnel, they put their arms around each other -- I'm not sure if that's part of the choreography, but it was still nice to see.

Thanks for the detailed reports, Mrs P! Glad you were able to go. Don't know if it's part of the choreography or if they just started doing it themselves, but they've done this at other shows, and other skaters have done it as well. You can see it on the link from Seattle posted on the previous page.

Thanks for the extra reporting on Jason, Mrs. P.

Of course, he would have had to change his DWTS pitch this week just to "vote for Adam" rather than "Adam and Mirai". I'm sure he's adaptable.

I am also so glad he listened to Rohene too; of course Rohene has skated in shows and he knew exactly what Jason needed to skate for SOI. I think in every review I've read everyone loved "Can't Stop the Feeling".

Now where will get our skating clips from:sad21:

Jordan Cowan the On Ice Perspectives videographer went to the Portland show and shot a lot of video per his tweet:

@OnIcePerspectvs Well, whatever! Filming Stars On Ice again in Portland was a complete success! I shot almost 100GB of video! And my arms are tired!

He also currently has an instastory with some of the skaters (including Jason):

I really enjoyed the videos he took of Jason from an earlier SOI show and am looking forward to seeing more. I know what you mean though, el henry. We don't know when or where Jason will compete next.

Now that SOI has ended I'll be taking a summer hiatus from the board (although I may come back to comment if Jason announces anything earth shattering). ;)

We'll miss you, @Katmari, enjoy your time off!

And I love OnIce Perspectives, I hope he keeps up the good work.:agree:

And I mentioned in the general thread, I had NO idea that the colored spotlights were supposed to represent Olympic rings. I just knew Jason was yellow, so I kept my eyes open for that;)
