2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

Zlata Murashova(9yo)
It's been a rather dry spell with the competitions lately but aah, I just really  this skater.

It appears that she started skating relatively late(perhaps 6-7yo) judging by how old she's been in some categories but now she's finally catched up to her age group. As for why I like her even though she's not extraordinarily advanced for her age, well... There's something else in there and a lot of it. And her scoring has skyrocketed even over the course of this season.

The school's at least the correct one(Sambo-70, Crystal).

Koola King lurks on this thread... :jaw:

I thought she hated the Russian girls... or is it because she hates them?

How can you hate Russian girls, they're all beautiful. Zhenya, Alina, Sasha, Alena, Anna. I couldn't even choose one of them. I don't even know how they can all get gold medals.:rolleye:

Ive seen somewhere that Zhenya choreographed this herself? Is that true?
If yes, i am actually worry about the mimicking in her programs next year

Don't worry, I have no doubts her miming skills will improve dramatically under BOrser :laugh2:

Actually it is pretty sick.
I mean, some people really should get a life.
I think it's pretty far-fetched that she would single out someone with a shallow outside edge on the Lutz as a flutzer. There are many actual flutzers to concentrate on.

Shcherbakova's only ever had one ! on her Flutz and that was a pretty strict call. Her lutz would legitimately never be called as a ! in international competition even with slow-mo. What a waste of video making effort.

And Koola King seems to be unable to recognize that the video angle is important when analyzing this sort of thing. Anya has an entrance similar to Alina's that sort of makes it appear a little inside but isn't. Plus, the outside edge doesn't have to be as deep as Yuna's in order to be an outside edge. Wonder what Koola King thinks of Anastasia Tarakanova though... an Eteri girl with the deepest outside edge lutz I've ever seen...

watch this end up in a video too! I'm famous it seems :o:

By the way, I checked both Tursynbaeva and Daleman and I'd say they both have a worse Lutz edge than Shcherbakova. So there's that. Indeed, Shcherbakova doesn't use that dragging entry to the Lutz but I've yet to see a Lutz by her that wasn't at least slightly outside. By the way, the 4Lutz edge actually looks better than hers usually do and due to that, I honestly don't get why Koola King would call it a flutz. When I saw that one of the things I first noted is that the edge looked better than usual for her Lutz. If she can for the next season maintain a similar edge as the one on the 4Lutz, that'll be simply fantastic.

I think that Alexandra Trusova has the deepest Lutz edge. It's pretty much at the limit.

Here

By the way, I'd say that the best Lutz technique(for ladies) in the entire world right now belongs to Elizaveta Berestovskaya, a Russian skater(10yo). And yes, Berestovskaya's Lutz has cleaner technique than Yuna's.

Oh wow yeah I didn't realize how good it was, thought it was more like... Zagitova's maybe... those two are really good -- what will she find to pick on them with?
It's really interesting how her quad has a better edge than her triple and I totally agree, hopefully we'll see it some more next year.
And Orser's really not some god-like coach as opposed to "evil Eteri"...

I still can't help laughing every time I see my "Queen Yuna" avatar in her videos :laugh2:

Hush or YOU'LL end up in a Koola King video

I'm not sure whether it's the deepest outside edge in the world, but no one has a more beautiful lutz than Tuktamysheva. There's a lot to criticize about her skating but GOSH I love her 3Lz.

I think Zhenya still will be a russian darling. PR doing its job.
Casual FS viewers came to me to ask why Alina was such a bad girl and didn't stay at juniors when Zhenya asked her. Or why Alina was so selfish that didn't perform one jumping pass less at the Olympics. In the best case scenario they blame Eteri for this, not Alina.
All mass media at the Medvedeva's side as well. She will be fine.

I just came back and read all these posts (yep, I‘m bored) and I know it‘s a rather old one but I just had to react to this.
Like... WHAT? Did they really? I mean did and does anybody really believe a professional athlete is going to be like: „Oh, nooo, my buddy isn‘t going to win this years Olympics but I am! I should really try to perform worse than her! I don‘t want to be selfish after all!“

Lol. That‘s one of the most ridiculous things I have ever heard😂 I mean, I‘m a Zhenya fan, too but this is... just not how any sports works🤦🏻*♀️

Anyway, something else: Zhenya‘s back to jumping and with a new, really beautiful EX program. I just love the theme of it, they way she moves, the story she tells... Apparently she even coreographed it herself! Speak about talent, here. I mean, her jumps (3 loop and 3S) did look a bit shaky but she‘s only been back to training jumps for about three weeks or so, I guess. So, yeah, I‘m totally ready for the next season: These Alina Zhenya fights are going to be intense!

It‘s funny but seeing everything recently, I‘m even more worried about Alina. At least ... a bit. Evgenia‘s tough as nails but Alina‘s a more sensitive girl and now the pressure will be solely on her. Eteri will be... hungry for the win against BO and Zhenya. And she doesn‘t have any other senior girls (I believe?) now that Polina left so she‘s going to really push Alina. I hope she can handle it. Don‘t want another Worlds, it was terrible to watch her cry like this. :(

___

And just asking because I don‘t know the whole conversation: Why do we even take Koola King seriously? I mean, Yuna‘s great and everything but it‘s not like she was the only skater to ever have correct jumps in the entire timeline of skating... 🤦🏻*♀️ And if anybody says Trusova or Sherbakova has a flutz... lol. Just lol at that. There may be things to criticize about them and their skating but not that. I think he/she just needs another victim after what happened with Zhenya and how suddenly Eteri seems to be the big bad and not „Flutzgenia“ ... Just don‘t take this person seriously. The videos are mostly ridiculous to watch, too. Sometimes he/she has a point but most of the time it‘s just: „YUNA YUNA YUNA and did I say... YUNA? What, you don‘t think YUNA is the only one without a flutz?! Here: Watch this videos with totally different video angles as a proof!!!“ Like, yeah. And that‘s probably why people think us Yuna fans are crazy.🤦🏻*♀️🤦🏻*♀️

I actually think Alina will have the advantage next year, as she is riding OGM momentum while Zhenya is coming back from injury and will have to adapt to a new coach and a new style of skating. I do believe Zhenya is tougher mentally, but I can see Alina beating her next season, especially in the first half when Zhenya will be in full adjusting mode still. It's gonna be such an exciting competition between 2 amazing athletes!

Yeah, of course, that‘s something we have to take into consideration as well. If both are on, Alina will undoubtedly win. That‘s for sure. But I‘m afraid for her mental condition that‘s it. I imagine myself in her situation and... it‘s not somewhere I‘d want to be. Firstly she has Trusova and Sherbakova and Kostornaya and their quads breathing down her neck every day and secondly, Eteri has basically declared war on BO (yes, I am exaggerating here, no need to confirm) and Alina‘s her single senior lady so... she‘s going to put a lot of pressure on her. I just hope she manages to keep her nerves in check. I‘m not worried about her skating, I‘m worried about her mind and that‘s something they need to handle carefully.
