Yuzuru Hanyu: 2017-2018

https://olympics.nbcsports.com/2018/06/01/yuzuru-hanyu-peoples-honor-award/ - NBC Olympics reporting about the award.

It's a bit of an off topic but is there anyone on this thread who likes to experiment with Yuzuru skating videos trying them with a different music? Basically I have an idea about this exhibition program but with another music in my mind. I really like the way he skates though I'm not really into the song, sorry to say that. If anyone can and wants to create an alternative version to upload it just for fun and appreciation of beauty of Yuzuru's skating- please DM me, maybe we could create something beautiful to enjoy. Thanks.:)

I have. I'm desperate for him to skate to final fantasy music so I set his SP to the piano version of the piece (though I think he can do that and full orchestral):

Some can only see chopin, some thought it fit. I think he can certainly do this music though and would move quite well to it :confused2:. And best of all, no warhorse!!

I don’t know what’s the difference between this performance and the Makuhari one (besides the little stumble) but I’m liking today’s performance more than the previous one. Somehow I felt like it had more strength or something...I don’t know. Did anything change or is it the camera work or is it just me getting used to the costume?

I definitely like the latest performance better. --What will day 3 look like?

I see quite a few people agree with me about the Wings of Words performance. I'm impressed to see his improvement over only one week!

Re: the gloves... did he give something last time as well? I visited that museum two years ago, but I didn't know him back then so I might've seen unknowingly :ohwell:

"My prediction is, he will go straight to the Olympics, win it, and get the People's Honor Award"
Oh wow, right on!

Wow that guy was spot on with the prediction:clap: now I want to hear his thoughts about Yuzu's future plan :p

I agree completely , today's performance looked more natural to me he went with flow of the music and last week's one seemed a bit forced to me .

Agree. Also maybe yuzu usually needs some time to warm up to the program, considering he has never won the 1st assignment of gpf. I'm still not a big fan of the program though. Don't like the song. I watched seed and seed destiny before but totally didn't remember this song.

I think this music matches figure skating and will be great for Yuzuru. Has any skater ever performed in this before?

https://twitter.com/yuzu_sasshi/status/941932797500915712 I saw this prophetic TV clip on twitter again so I thought it's time to re-share.

When Yuzu was injured and nobody had heard from him, they were discussing what he might do leading up to the Olympics.

The guy, Mr. Morinaga, was on TV this morning. I didn't watch the whole program but I wonder if he remembers that he predicted all right last year  He should be known more to the public for what he did

Well, I've done an overlay excerpt with Yuzu's 2016 GPF SP recently:

I'm not a huge fan of overlays in general tbh. Really good choreos should match the original music best, it shouldn't be exchangeable. However in this case it worked surprisingly well - rhythmically, dynamically and it fit Yuzu's facial expressions and gestures (except the phone call maybe). He's even singing along! Starts around 00:38. Priceless.

Back to Yuzu's performance yesterday: I think he looked more serious and determined in his face, not that playful and soft as in Makuhari, no? In general I prefer the new version, but I liked his Ina Bauer in Makuhari more (maybe because of the camera angle, I'm not sure).

That opening 3A seems to be cursed in Kanazawa  But all good things come in threes, so it should work tomorrow

Good reason for me to revisit that museum! Maybe they will update the videos playing on the big wall panels with his performance footage too:)

No he didn’t so you didn’t miss anything :) I visited it around that time too and was already a big fan so was on the lookout. They had Torvill and Dean’s Bolero costumes, Stephane Lambiel’s zebra costume and Katarina Witt’s Carmen dress :)

The last few says, every time we stop to draw breath... he throws something new at us, doesn't he?

I squeaked when I READ the 4T, just imagine what the people watching did....
