Evgenia Medvedeva

If she goes for a quad, we're not gonna see it (or any attempts) until the 2019-20 season, she's definitely gonna work on her 3lz first, imo

I agree we probably won't see a Quad straight away, but that's the direction she wants to go. She's fully aware the competition will become tougher and tougher and she will be preparing for it.

No quad training for Zhenya, please! At least not now, this season. It‘d be like poison for her injured foot. Better not to push it. Doing a fully rotated quad is one thing and a great achievement, of course but to actually land it in competition? Whole different level. Just look how long it took Trusova and she‘s younger, pre-puberty and wasn‘t injured. Not even Alina should be trying quads, let alone Zhenya. She‘s fine the way she is. Training quad, attempting quad... it all sounds so easy when in reality it‘s everything but. If I‘m completely honest I don‘t even know if Zhenya will ever be able to get a quad. She needs to rework her other jumps first which takes a lot of time, patience and falls. (Look how long it took Mao.) Let‘s be realistic. Zhenya probably won‘t ever get a quad. And? So what? She‘s fine without it. If she wants to do it, fine, but we shouldn‘t really expect it from her.

The problem is that Trusova, Scherbakova will come to the senior with quads, you'll have Kostornaia and Japanese girls doing 3A, do you really think Zhenya will be fine with this, especially after what she experienced at the Olympics?

She wants to win and she'll do whatever it takes to win, and even at the press conference after the Olympics she was speaking about increasing her TES. Sge has spoke about it in several occasions since then. Whether she'll accomplish that, we don't know, but she will definitely try.

I have read comments on social networks like these:

”Medvedeva vs Osmond: who is the best CANADIAN skater? Coming Soon!!!”

”Next year by this time Zhenya will be singing “ Oh Canada!!! Our home an Native Land!! true Patriot Love in all of us command!!”

“Zhenya you are a traitor!!!!Fifth-Columnist!!! Enemy of the People!!! You and your family should be banished to Siberia”

People have a huge imagination when they want to hurt....

I'd like to say "I can't believe people come up with such nonsense" but Internet amplify people's stupidity, so it's not surprise. Haters are stupid and pathetic critters hiding in the anonymity social media offers them.

This will stop after she'd won some medals for Russia, or those people are even more stupid than they already seem to be :palmf:

1. You don't know how Anna's and Alexandra's future will look like. I wish them all the best but if figure skating taught me one thing it would be "don't be sure about anything"
2. Evgenia is no fool and she saw growing talents at her rink and if anybody is aware of danger it's her.

Couldn't have said better, of course we want these girls to keep the quads, but they become harder and harder as you grow up and gain weight, no matter if it's muscles.

You're right, I personally don't. But one of the things Zhenya has said after the Olympics is that she won't be relying on others to fail. She said she wants to complicate her program to the maximum and increase her TES as much as possible, including studying the quad Sal. When she left Eteri, she wished the other girls "longevity, because the sport is advancing". To me, her intentions are very clear. She learned the hard way it's not possible to win with a stagnant TES, and if there's a possibility of other girls doing quads, she'll have to prepare for it, too.

Yup, I get that but as others have already pointed out, we can‘t be sure Trusova and co. will keep their jumps once they grow up. Of course, Zhenya‘s totally not the person to rely on that but she is aware of her health. She knows she must be careful with her foot. Have you seen some of the falls Sasha had to take when she attempted her quads in competition? And she‘s small compared to Zhenya. This is dangerous to the body. Quads are a really big deal, one can dream about it but to actually achieve it is whole other level. Of course I‘d love to see Zhenya land a quad but for me, her health - both mentally and physically - will always come first. And I don‘t think it would be wise to train a quad now. She is already working on retraining her jump technique, that‘s enough. And besides, to up her technical content does not necessarily mean quads. It can mean to change her combos, add another lutz in FP...

she turns seniors, and have to wait a few more years to go to the Olympics, could she keep her quads? the ones they are doing are not good that good at rotation, men lose the ability too, and they have way less body mass, saying "Trusova would keep her quads" in under the same fantasy of "Trusova would lose them" cause both escenarios can be truth

Disclaimer, Im using Trusova as an example, she is the most hyped quad girl, and Im not going to write every quad girl, so it can be to any of them

Her program has a lot of room for improvements before thinking of quads, and especially with the new GOE rule, the jumps have more aspects that need attention to get a high goe, such as the entries. In addition, trying quads is too much of a risk as pointed out, not only for injuries (trusova said that only specific falls hurt ) but also for the tes itself: a mandatory -5 GOE. I think she is quite fine for the moment refining the triples

I'm just reporting on what she said. I agree with you that her health should come in first place, and in many ways her move to Brian is an attempt to achieve what she wants in a sustainable way. We'll have to wait and see, and hope for the best ;)

I agree with this :)
