Thanks Hronop and gacchan for sharing his three programs! Yesterday my day was horrid but today just started wonderfully with these vids!!! πŸ‘πŸ» πŸ‘πŸ» πŸ‘πŸ»

Love StH, that step sequence...just wow! And the tummy fest...of course gets all my approval! πŸ˜‰

Gurespi...well you know I'm madly in love with it but now even more after seeing all of it! The best part: he's having fun while performing! Yay!!!

TAT really improved!! Only he can zip it up while spinning, extra points for that move 😁

Aglae, liked the Last Airbender video and about the math, well...we all make mistakes! πŸ˜‰

Thanks again! Let's celebrate!!

From another twitter account:
I rewatched TAT a few times, his window was opened from the beginning, instead of being opened due to *AT!

Thx for the videos! Great way to start the day. Heck, if he's fat, I don't know what that means for the rest of us! :o: I'd kill to be that lean. It is pretty funny though the way he just nonchalantly takes care of business. +5 on the new Shospin.

Poor Shoma, getting exposed like that! From now on that shall be known as the Shoma spin and have the highest base value as it deserves :points:

Consider one of Shoma's signature is "Klimkin eagle" (cantilever in English but that's how it's called in Japanese), now he has a new signature named after him..."Shoma spin"/ "Shospin" :yahoo: :laugh2:

Agree w/ arriba, +5 for sure!

Im still not used to using TAT as Time after Time lol, all I can think of was "What? TATiana Tarasova was in the video? Where?" And then I realized...

The "improvised" choreo - I just laughed and probably blushed a bit...Look Shoma, if you think the pants are too tight in the crotch you should change another pair. Not zipping it does not help (or does it? hmmmm ;))

Well, there's a flying camel spin, now we have a zipping fly spin. :laugh2:

oh my, if the incident isn't a perfect indication as to why we all love Shoma so much, I don't know what is. No one can insult his intelligence from now on because he has demonstrated wonderful quick thinking skills! :2thumbs:

on a serious note, so good to see him skating new programs, they're gorgeous as expected!

Oh, now I see the mermaid shirt. At first I was thinking "Whaaaaatttt?" This is in reference to the see-through shirt. Yes, definitely a much better option rather than the potential controversy of the other shirt. It is so great to see him doing such a high energy program. It really suits him...And since I've missed so much, did we ever officially hear who did the choreo for the SP? I'm assuming it was Fluffy, but I wondered if Stephane or perhaps someone else assisted?

I think I never related more to Shoma... I hate fractions!
I'm the same! And in all honesty, how many times do we have to add up fractions like that in real life situations?

3 new programs revealed and
Maths Shoma! Zipping up mid-spin Shoma! Model Shoma!
ahhh today is such a great day :yahoo:

So happy to see these three new programs! We were thinking we'd only see one, but the media was kind and decided to show them all.

For me, I like the Stairway to Heaven SP the best. That step sequence was especially amazing- not a beat wasted, everything on point, despite being so fast!! Also, the flamenco cops need not worry- the program obviously took some inspiration from Spanish dance (makes sense since they used Spanish guitars), but it just as obviously is not intended to be a flamenco at all. I don't think it has a clearly defined genre, which makes it all the more exciting.

I like Time After Time too- it feels suave and smooth, with enough snap in the right places. No breaks in this program either, something is always happening. The zipping up of the "window to society" amuses me whenever I see it! I was so engrossed watching him that I didn't initially notice that it was open. I had to watch out for it, and noted only certain "protruding deformities" of that area, which could readily be misinterpreted as the protrusion of other, um, stuff. πŸ˜‚ Seemed like he tried to subtly zip it up at the beginning of the spin, but subtle doesn't work, apparently.

As for Great Spirit, he does a lot of cool moves in it, but I think it still has some blank spots (where there's a heavy beat but he's sort of skating around), which I have no doubt he'll fill in as he goes along. After all, whether his modest self admits it or not, Shoma partly choregraphs his programs, or at least refines them along the way.

We already got several treats, and they'll only get better!! Happy day!

Ha, I like that -- the flamenco cops. Even Javi got "picked on" for his flamenco SP when people said growing a beard, wearing a red and/or black costume, and clapping your hands over your head twice doesn't make a program be flamenco. Shoma described Loco as tangoesque and couldn't really explain what that meant. Just like it's impossible to do a real tango on skates, it's impossible to do flamenco on skates. I've already stopped trying to put the music in a specific box and just plan to enjoy it.

This music is more what I think of when I think of flamenco. We have a wonderful flamenco dance troupe in Chicago (Ensemble Espagnol Chicago) that has been in existence for more than 40 years. Although they do a lot of Spanish folk dances too, when I think of their flamenco songs, I think of very sharp, staccato movements along with lots of palmadas (clapping) and many times wailing / singing. https://youtu.be/age36eyFH84?t=478

I'm sure this SP will only get better and better, and imagine when it's done in the real (Satomi Ito?) costume. It's going to be a winner. Get ready to be WOWED by the Prince!

Speaking about Shoma's spins (oh, we weren't speaking about his spins? that's a shame, because his spins in these three programs that he showed are amazing, and there are some very nice details there in terms of their coordination with music)... Anyway, I did another translation of one of my earlier posts on musicality of spins, which now has a more intriguing title "Spinning to music: A few recipes from Yuzuru Hanyu and Shoma Uno". It is mostly analytical, based on a selection of spins from these two skaters, but also featuring (as a special guest) Patrick Chan's SP from the 2104 Olys. And a very young Shoma from the 2010-11 season is also there!
If that sounds interesting, here you go. Please do not repost this on Twitter or other social media right now -- it will appear there very soon (probably today), but at the moment it is posted here as a sort of pre-release promotion. Needless to say, I am open for all criticism, objections, questions, etc.!

EDIT: Since it's on Twitter now, no restrictions re reposting. :)

Thanks Hronop ! Very nice and informed perspective as always :) I can't believe Mihoko edited Vivaldi's music (and that you noticed it too), she's such a queen ! I completely get why Shoma is so loyal to her.

Thank you Dr. Hronop! As always, your attention to detail amazes me! I am a huge fan of Sho's spins and especially enjoyed seeing his 2010-11 spin! I remember with "Winter" how we were all saying "Wait, what was different in the program?" when Fluffy made a change. Interesting that a one second tweak made a difference in the program! This gives me a better appreciation of what an amazing amount of energy it takes to do a well-timed, well-executed spin! Thx for posting.

I just saw vids of Shoma zipping up while performing.
It was shown on National TV right?
Poor boy, its kind of embarrasing.
