Translations of Tsuzuki, the childhood's coach's comments about Yuzu's victory in PC. I don't know when the comments were made but they were posted probably in reply to the discussion in the TV show.
Credit to the translator:thumbsup:

"He competed without his #4Lutz & #4Lo. He chose to play it safe, but there was really no other choice. He was injured and this was something new #Yuzuru had to challenge himself with. He was unable to do what he had planned."

"He was unable to chase his dream. He probably felt conflicted, because he could not do what he had planned. But what he did in itself was challenge himself. Having missed competitions because of an injury, he did what he could in terms of mental and physical conditioning..."

"#Yuzuru had to grow-up. He had to hold back things he could do. There was no other choice. Even though this was a bitter choice, this was necessary if he wanted to win. He showed us everything he learned over the years and won. I want to thank him from the bottom of my heart."

I also think team Japan did nothing wrong, they didn't play against the rules and achieved their goal. But sometimes, people still want something called "samurai spirit" or "sportsmanship." There was a simple difference between them and Yuzuru; they didn't fight till the end while Yuzuru did, or they chose not to fight even though they could while Yuzuru had to chose a strategy to have easier jumps but still gave his all. So I understand the opinions that they are not comparable. Kozuka was there not for downplaying Yuzuru, in fact, it was opposite. He just took a wrong example.

I think Kozuka is a smart (invented new blade!) and knowledgeable person, and I know he has been nice to Yuzuru so I don't judge his personality by only one mistake (if I call it "mistake"). But at the same time, having seeing him on TV for a while, I admit I feel like he has not been well spoken on TV. So, if he continues to work as a commentator or the likes, maybe he should be careful not to be misunderstood. (Daisuke doesn't work for Fuji TV anymore and I am wondering if Kozuka will take over his job since his wife is ex-announcer of Fuji, there is the connection. But I may be thinking too much :p)

When do we find out what his programs are? I see a lot of speculations and wishes 😂
Is there a reason why he is secretive about it?

The comparison is not appropriate but maybe an airhead moment. However there's also this comment Kozuka made
This is much more offensive than the football comparison to Yuzu's effort and accomplishment thru the years.:palmf: I don't know whether this is Kozuka's real thoughts. Feels like this is what the TV producer wants. There's also the part that the female guest said Yuzu is acting cool/cute to attract fans (maybe not 100% accurate but something like that). They really tried to produce some controversy to grab more attentions.:( It's Fuji so I'm not too surprised though:disagree:

If it is just to gather viewers or clicks, then the best way to combat it is not to spread it. Don't click, and don't share. ;)
Don't be the kind of viewer they target.

https://youtu.be/4HKuTwOrM58 Nagano H&F Yuzu-cut. BSAsahi Version.
I noticed some different camera angles for the two broadcasts. The Nagano local version had Yuzu patting Javi on the head and taking selfies with Elvis and co. And the BS Asahi version had better angles of Yuzu and Plushenko's collab performance.

I guess off-season just made it harder. No real news so any new materials are viewed with magnifier

Now some random awkward/funny Yuzu moment. This is from 2016. I want to see an updated version

Forgive the rant:

I really don't know why the PC strategy suddenly became a controversy.
But like everyone stressed out. Yuzuru was injured with limited capablities during that time.
I remember when he did the second 4T but didn't make the combination which resulted to some deductions, things could have fallen apart.
When it was revealed he was in painkillers, I thought man it must have hurt that time. He didn't push it but made all efforts to skate clean.
He said so himself he bet his life on that 2nd OGM.
If there was something I was thankful for, (sorry Nathan fans I like him too) is that he wasn't that pressured to do the difficult jumps when the SP results were out.
Honestly the 4T rep was a costly mistake, if Shoma skated clean things could have been different.
But it doesn't matter now. We have the results and it cannot be taken back.

It is my personal belief that when one is earnest and sincere divine providence will award your heart's desires.
Yuzu won fair and square. All his hard work through all these years were rewarded.

For people who're interested, TSL mentioned Yuzu a little bit in their new video. Starting from 26:19

Got a personal rule that I never click in anything Tsl related, and I have their social media blocked. Is something nice? If not I don’t wanna know.

Oh wow yes that would also be amazing! I take the wild SP back and embrace the tango idea fully :luv17: And he should dress in black and red :D

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gcxv7i02lXc personally, this is my favorite tango :)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=As0QHcUSGYY also this
Yes!! Red and Black would be a super exciting costume combo :yahoo: I remember that Ghana advertisement, where he wore that deep red shirt. That looked absolutely great imo!

Love your Tango music choices, too :agree::love: I wonder, how well they would fit Yuzu's modern skating style.

Some time ago I did a SP cut to Worakls' music piece called 'Elea'. It has a bit of Tango, but in fusion with modern dance. Imagining Yuzu doing a super fast sit spin at 02:00 gives me goosebumps:

What does the Japanese part says?

"I did not think he would win in the first Olympics (Sochi Olympics). Then he won consecutively in his second Olympics after getting injured. At that time, I'm sorry for saying this but I didn't believe in him." Kozuka confessed. Koji Higashino, the host, asked him "It's not that easy? ", and he said "No (it's not that easy), I was thinking that the skater who had been piling on the effort would win."

This article omitted a very important comment from Kozuka (it happens in this kind of article to make more drama), at the very first moment he was asked "Is Hanyu senshu a great athlete?", he answered "He is incredible." and he started to give his opinion I typed above.

So if I read between the lines of what he said, it is going to be like "He is incredible. I didn't expect him to win in the Sochi Olympics since it was the first one for him and there were other skaters who could aim for the gold medal. But he won, and he won another gold medal while he had been injured. I'm sorry for saying this but I didn't expect him to win since we had almost no information about his condition and so on. (It's not that easy to win like he did?) What he had achieved was not easy task, I was guessing the skater who had kept competing and having good results in this season would win. (But Yuzuru took gold medal)."

I took his words like this, so I personally don't feel it was offensive (or maybe I am too nice to him?). Anyway, I wish Kozuka good luck on his future job and hope he will not be in trouble again. Oh, about the lady in red dress, she is always like that so I don't take her seriously either, she is too smart to see the things normally, has always unique views. At the end of Yuzuru's segment, every guest said they wanted to see Yuzuru in person, they were just so curious what kind of person Yuzuru was.

I like to make this post as the last post for this topic, all above are only my opinions :)
