Seems like lots of fans went to the brewery immediately after Brian's post and the limited edition drink quickly sold out :laugh2:

Yuzu has lived in Canada for so long and has so many Canadian fans now, maybe he can be an honorary Canadian? (Just kidding!)
This is pretty amazing. I wonder if some thought forward business person will do the same with Zhenya now that accidentally Yuzuru Hanyu beer has gone over so well :p

I hope they never give Yulia a drink....I hate the spins!!

#bad_jokes :slink:#wrong_thread

And these sorts of lies are why people can't accept Zhenya training in Canada... :palmf:

That comment clearly wasn’t meant to be serious. Treating it as if it were - and especially using the inflammatory word “lies” - may cause non native speakers to misunderstand that.

Yuzu is definitely an honorary Torontonian, right down to the "don't want to leave _my_ part of the city" I'm familiar with my "side" and also downtown core because I lived there for a year many years ago, but let's just say I'dve never visited the CN tower without relatives coming up and wanting to see it.

Me: "the West side? It exists????"

What? Seriously, chill. Like others have said, it's clearly a joke. Would any US fan complain if someone said Madi and Zach are honorary Canadians because they train in the Canada? Because I've seen people say stuff like that. When Eugenie Bouchard had her big run at Wimbledon a few years ago, Brits were calling her an honorary Brit because she's named after Princess Eugenie and I just thought that was funny.

Besides, it makes sense to say that about Javi. He's friends with lots of Canadian skaters, he did Stars on Ice in Canada this year, etc. During the Japanese shows he was hanging out with Tessa and Scott and other Canadians a lot. He can be an 'honorary Canadian'. It's not like it's a serious title. If I had a close friend from another country who'd lived in Canada for a while, I might call them that.

I recognize Stephen and Yuzuru (I'm pretty sure that's him), and Dylan (he and Eric Radford got these matching tattoos in Toronto).

This picture is roughly a year old(?) but I wonder if they do outdoor pilates sessions regularly. Although this summer they might want to stay indoors to avoid heat stroke, especially Yuzuru, if he's going to wear black, full-body workout attire ;) Last summer it wouldn't have been such a problem alas.

And after all, it was not exactly easy to miss the massive Spanish and Japanese flags Brian's 'honorary Canadians' wrapped themselves up in at the Olympics... and we all know that if and when Evgenia medals, she'll be just as happily wrapped up in the Russian one.

That's a straw man argument, and you know it. Let's ask instead if any Russian fan would complain if someone said that Zhenya was an honorary Canadian.

I think it's safe to say that Spainards and Japanese may react differently than people from other countries regarding being called an Honorary Canadian or anything for that matter.

Let's keep it fun and light here. Someone want to pass around those cans of Yuzu? (And Yuzu-ade for the non-drinkers).

Being an honorary anything is usually a good thing!

Confession: I had no idea there was a fruit named Yuzu up until a few months ago 🙈 we don’t have it in Italy!

^ Yeah I didn't know about it either! BUt then this baking show on Netflix has a team that made a lemon drop cupcake infused with Yuzu flavor!

Info for those who are curious.
