Not really, every music doesn't give a better program than Carmen in the end, but any music is a more interesting choice than Carmen
Although it should be compared to PotO, as it would be the SP :)

I don't want to start flame, but not for me, even though I admit that Carmen isn't my favorite opera. But, on the other hand, I could hardly find music style I'm less interrested in than jazz ;)
But I agree with the second part.

Depends on personal preferences :)

Nah, it doesn‘t. I meant „interesting“ in the sense of „new, fresh“. I like Alina and I might even like her Carmen program (depending on what Daniil does with it) but Carmen is certainly everything but a fresh choice. It‘s as old as figure skating itself. Doesn‘t mean there can‘t be a good program with warhorses as music choices. If the skater is comfortable with it, then why not? I‘m personally not so much of a jazz fan either so I‘m pretty neutral towards it for now but it‘s certainly not something done that often before. :)

I think she'd ace it. I can picture her being super sassy and flirty... ;)

The main thing is that her costume is not made of leather, haha:rofl:
Although I'm preparing for the worst, I hope for the best. Well, I started to do it, in my head to imagine how the program will look, so I did not want to know the music before the competition.:ohwell:

That surely doesn't help  But still, Carmen is such an overused music.
We can't discuss taste I guess :)

I‘m a bit sceptical as well but that‘s not a bad thing. Maybe (I hope so!) she‘ll surprise us. I just can‘t imagine David giving her a bad choreography just for the sake of doing something new. A lot depends on her outing this season and her and her team will take it seriously. I believe that if this is really her choice, Zhenya will be 100% comfortable with it.

Q: Where do you get ideas for your new programs?
A: I have a vivid imagination. Sometimes I get such wild ideas that I cannot even tell my parents or coaches, because they might think I've gone completely crazy.

Remember this part of an interview after the Olympics? Maybe she always wanted to have a jazz program but her team decided to play it safe (certainly don‘t blame them, though, her past SP have all been gorgeous) and now she‘s more involved in the process of creating her program. We don‘t even have any confirmation for now, so let‘s better not jump to conclusions either. :)

Well, again, with all respect I disagree with the narrowing of the meaning of the word "interresting" to the sense of „new, fresh“. Maybe it can be one of the many components of it but not the dominant or only component. Of course I'm speaking only for myself, but for me this choice is not interresting at all, although I don't deny it is not typical choice. There are things that can hook me down in the music, atmosphere, story to which it is related etc., but no, that didn't happen here. Just not my taste at all. So the fact that something is interresting for someone (or at least he is curious about the result) doesn't mean it is interresting for someone else.

That's where I completely agree :)

Oh wow! Orange Colored Sky, huh?

So, personally I’m not a fan of jazz music in general, it’s just not to my taste. That said, I like that Zhenya is thing something completely different from her usually dramatic programs AND I think that she will be able to pull it off! Esp if you guys remember her EX with the read heart dress :)

Finally, Brian himself skated to this song in the past! That’s kinda sweet!

Yes, I also hope that it was her idea and fantasy to go for a jazz song, so she will be comfortable with it. Coquettish and playful, she can be on the ice.
But I also remember that she answered questions and said that during the work of the production, everything changes radically, that "at first I wanted the blues, but in the end I skate Tchaikovsky." So this may not be the final version, after all?

Well, maybe I should have said it differently. Not typical, yes, that‘s probably something we can agree on. But I guess we‘re just different here and that’s perfectly fine! For me interesting always or most of the time means new. For example, while Alina‘s music choice might not be new and fresh and therefor not really that exciting and interesting her interpretation of said music and the choreography to it may very well be and that‘s were it gets... interesting again. Either you start with something fresh or make something fresh by interpreting it differently than everyone else. You don‘t like jazz from what I‘ve gathered and therefor the music isn‘t „interesting“ to you. Well, I‘m no jazz fan either and almost always prefer more melodic music to jazz or tango. I also don‘t particularly enjoy the music (yet). However, the music choice still strikes me as interesting even though I‘m not hooked into it because it‘s something new and it‘ll be exciting to see how Zhenya interprets it. But it‘s totally okay if we‘re of a different opinion here, after all, we‘re all different anyway. Would be boring otherwise, wouldn‘t it? :)

Maybe she doesn't mind as much? This is the girl who tells where she lives on Instagram... 😅
But usually such details about music are revealed only by skater or coaching team. And if this is ok, what else they can leak next time, Med's state of health? I don't like it at all.

Yes, I completely agree. There was just too cathegorical statement on the beginning, that was why I responded.

We've know for a while she had been learning choreography at Scotiabank rink, which isn't private like TCC. It was a choice.

Not comparable.
She's skating at a different rink which is open to other skaters too, who aren't members of TCC. It happens because sometimes folks don't think but really, ultimately, there's very little harm in this. To the wider audience that doesn't follow all the minute details of her career, the SP info will become available when she herself announces it or frankly, even at the first event when she skates.

Well, I‘d say that state of health is something entirely different than the music choice for a skating program! As others have pointed out, it‘s an open rink so basically everyone can go there and if she plays her music loudly over the speakers, we can‘t really blame anyone for hearing it. Something important as health which is insanely private wouldn‘t be discussed or dealt with in a public space, it would be handled behind close doors with a doctor and nobody else and only afterwards discussed with the public. If Zhenya really didn‘t want anyone to find out, she‘d have handled it differently. Maybe she doesn‘t mind it getting out and maybe that‘s not even her real choice. For now and until she decides to tell us about it, we don‘t know anything really and probably shouldn‘t worry. :)

But it seems they use rinks outside club the whole year and apparently any skater there can freely spare any detail about Med's skating. It is very uncommon for Moscow rinks. I hope that this is just an adaptational stage and her team will provide greater privacy about what Med would prefer to keep in secret.
