Alina Zagitova

I am so happy to come back and see that this thread has flourished. You can tell that slowly but surely the offseason is passing by, and days with more "goodies" are coming. I am so excited for the next Ice Show..I wonder if Alinka's dress is ready, or she will wear a different dress, just for this show?
Regarding the jumps layout for the next season, based on Anna Shcherbakova's layout that it's already known, we can draw some conclusions about Eteri's approach with this new rules; her last 3 jump passings are:
3Lz-3Lo
3F-2T-2Lo
3Lz

These are jumps that Alinka also performs, so I think it may be the same for her, too, with the final 3Lz as a back-up, in case she won't be able to add the 3Lo after the first one. I think it's a difficult, but smart layout, and it can work pretty well for Alinka, too. I am expecting a great artistical development for her and further improvement for her current jumps. No quads..(yet )

This layout makes a lot of sense, I think they'll probably go for it. Oh I'm so curious now..... And when we do see video of her doing POTO at The Ice we might not get to see the real competition jump layout she'll use. Makes sense to soften things a bit for EX versions. Then again, Alina is fierce, so we'll know when we see video.

I hope we get to see the real competition dress, it is a great place to try it out...

I have a HUGE question regarding Japan Open....

Is Masaru going to be there????

That is the big question. She mentioned recently that she would love to take her back to Japan, but it is a really long flight (on the plus side, she'll be there for a while, they have something like at least 12 days there, so it is sort of a long stay).

If a TV Station wants to do a "Masaru in Japan with Alina" special I bet she'll take Masaru back, just a few more days until we know.

LOL, guess Alina is not too excited about this photo. She commented on teamzagitova's post - "Aaaarrgh, where did you find this [emoji85]" (acc to google translate)

I think it’s the cutest photo ever!!! [emoji1348][emoji1348]

She was tagged in the original photo, then again she is tagged in 1000s of stuff a day I bet.

Unfortunately I can't see it.

Just clicked on it and it got deleted :sad4:

It was a cute picture, she appeared to be holding a bundled up baby (but you couldn't see the baby).

Edit: Seems like it’s back!! I can see it using GS app on my phone (shows up when I look at my post).

Ambitious risky layout:

3F
3S
2A-3T
2A (back up)
---
3Lz-3Lo
3Lz (back up)
3F-2T-2Lo

This program is even more demanding than her previous one because she has not only some choreo and steps going on before the big combo, but already 4 jumps.

A safer option:

3Lz-3Lo (higher GOE because of better and cleaner execution on fresh legs)
3Lz (back up)
3S
2A
---
2A-3T
3F-2T-2Lo (possible back up for -3T)
3F (back up for either -2T-2Lo or -3T)

BTW, here I'd rather see her doing 3F-3T than a 2A-3T. The reason is, then you have already performed the 3F in a combo. Additionally, at the end I'd have the back up 3Lz after the Flip combo. That way, you can use that as a back up for one of the Flip combos as well.

Will she keep the rippons? What do you think?

I think she will. They look really good when she does them, too.

On the subject of the program layout... I hate to be a bit of a pessimist here but Alina really struggled with her SP last season. Up to Europeans, she never really had a clean performance. Now she‘ll have two full programs to adjust to, likely full of crazy transitions and difficult jump combos. Yes, she won‘t have to fully backload anymore but still, two new programs on a level like that is no easy task. So I actually think it would be wise not to use the most difficult layout but one where she can get some consistency on it and a back-up plan if needed. We don‘t know what Zhenya is bringing, that‘s true but considering that she had a coach change and is currently trying to rework her technique... I‘d say Alina‘s BV should still be above her. I can‘t see Zhenya adding a second lutz to her FS at this point let alone landing a lutz-loop combo. Also, if the system is used correctly, Alina should get more GOEs on her jumps. Zhenya is still ahead in PCs but Alina now has the reputation of being the Olympic Champion, I don‘t think it will be to much of a difference in the scoring... So, I think for now it‘s important for Alina to be clean and consistent not have the most difficult layout. As soon as the quad army is turning senior, yes but for now she‘s only competing with herself and Zhenya and in order to beat her, she needs to be clean because whatever Zhenya does, she‘ll likely be.
