Alla Loboda & Pavel Drozd

All in all they had a disappointing season. I really didin't expect that they would lose to Evdokimova/Bazin at Russian Nationals. They were also behind a rather new team, Popova/Mozgov.

Next season there will be quite a few young Russian teams (Popova/Mozgov, Loboda/Drozd, Skoptsova/Aleshin and Shpilevaya/Smirnov) competing in seniors and it will be very interesting to see which team will rise above the others.

If she doesn't improve or if they don't develop programs that better hide their (her) flaws they will be overtakenby at least P/M, and S/A next season. It is very difficult and frustrating to skate with someone who isn't your match technically. He on the otherhand has promise. Let's see.

No because there are no partners. They are looking. Alla is still with Krylova, Pavel with Zhulin.

Here is one rumor for his new partner - Angelique Abachkina. Apparently she is in Russia now and would want to team up with Pavel.

She might be a good fit, the question is if France will release her. I was hoping for Sofia Polishchuk, but since he has left Krylova already, it seems they are not meant to be.

I think maybe she doesn't need the France release ... she was born in russia ...

She still needs a release from France, the rules were updated in 2016 to remove the loophole of double nationality

A Skater who has competed in any ISU Championships, ISU Event and/or International Competition for any ISU Member and who intends to compete in the future for another ISU Member needs a permit from the last ISU Member he previously represented, which permit shall not unreasonably be denied.
In addition such Skater may compete for the respective ISU Member in International Competitions, ISU Events and ISU Championships only after a waiting period of twelve (12) months since the Skater competed for any other ISU Member in any such competition has elapsed.

Personally I think they would be much better off in France where the competition isn't very deep. She and Louie were barely behind L/L. Russia has several good junior teams. France not so much.

:noshake: It's like Madison Chock & Evan Bates all over again, Russian style.

I so loved Loboda & Drozd as a team.

Ice Dance - I am not sure in what sense you are saying that, but I find both Konkina and Drozd to be quite different from Chock and Bates accordingly. Chock/Bates are a pairing where he is technically more skilled (specifically, skating skills) than she, and she is, in turn, a much more expressive performer than him. Whereas with Konkina I don't get the sense that she really is (or would be) below his level - at least not to the extent to which Loboda was (sorry, I see that you loved them together, so you very likely don't agree with me). And Drozd seems more expressive than Bates to me.

I'd say, if Abachkina and Drozd would have stayed together, that would be a much more Chock/Bates-like situation.

But perhaps you meant something else rather than the similarities as skaters.

Edit - Okay, I got what you wanted to say. In your opinion, Loboda was a technically more matching partner to Drozd than Konkina will be, just as Emily Samuelson was a more matching partner skills wise to Bates than Chock is. Our opinions surely differ here.
