What are you listening to right now?

Listening currently to audio from Moulin Rouge! The musical which is amazing though I can’t link it though it’s very easy to find on tumblr. Aaron Tveit’s voice is enough for me to watch any number of Roxane programs in the next few seasons.

After my computer died in May, I've slowly been rebuilding my music library from the ground up, including some stuff that I would listen to on Youtube but never got actual files for. In particular, I recently purchased Imaginaerum by Nightwish for the first time (despite being a casual fan of them for 10+ years), and I forgot how brilliant some of the songs were.

This is one of my 'growing up' songs, I have huge sentiment for it, especially in acoustic version. Incubus, Stereophonics and The Verve were probably my introduction to more ambitious and mature music in my teens. Thank You a lot for posting it:ghug:

:)

Calvin Harris (f. Dua Lipa), One Kiss:

Jason Brown went to Dua Lipa concert. I didn't know her music that well and I was curious and looked her up. I just realized she did the vocals for this song, which I really liked when Calvin Harris released it.

I'm digging Calvin Harris' beach vibe.
(now listening to "Feels" f. Pharrell Williams, Katy Perry and BIg Sean: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ozv4q2ov3Mk)

AND NOW, "Slide" f. Frank Ocean and Migos. Dang I forgot how good this Calvin Harris album is. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Ee4QjCEHHc

AND NOW, "Holiday" f. Snoop Dogg, John Legend and Takeoff: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XZBoRGe5dho This is NOT a combo I would have imagined, but

As for 'One Kiss' - I recommend (for a good laugh) version made by FC Liverpool football club in Kiev this May during Champions League final (Dua Lipa was live there as musical guest):

That is SO cool. Thanks for sharing that!

Apparently Due Lipa's next album is going to have influences from Prince and OutKast? I will REALLY like that.

P.S. I do miss Calvin Harris quirky 80s synth vibe from a decade ago, so listening to this now.

:)

This is only courtesy of BBC Radio 1 I listen on my way from work - when the original song is played, Greg James (afternoon weekdays presenter, though not anymore, from September onwards he'll be in charge of weekdays breakfast show, switching with Nick Grimshaw) always prolonged the song with Liverpool fans' version, then I started to search clips hehe:):):)

Around the time of the World Cup, I remember seeing a picture on my Facebook News Feed of Dua Lipa, Rita Ora and Era Istrefi, which was celebrating that they were all Kosovar Albanians.

I have liked Rita ever since she was a judge on the X Factor a few years ago (I really wish she had stayed for more than 1 series. She was one of the best judges they’ve ever had on the programme!) Although her songs don't always do it justice, she has some voice!

And just to prove it, here is her duet with Louisa Johnson from the X Factor final:

Louisa Johnson and Rita Ora - "And I Am Telling You"

When Rita started as a judge, all I really knew about her was her name and that she was a singer. I didn’t know any of her songs or anything else about her. So, I looked her up and that was when I found out that she was from Kosovo. And I was in awe of what she had achieved, coming from a country that was a warzone when she was growing up.

Then these other 2 singers come along a few years later with the same back story!

I had never heard tell of Dua and Era when I saw that picture. And now that I have looked up some of their songs, I have to admit that I don't really like their style of music. But, I still admire what they have achieved.

Thinking about it, I suppose I have a general admiration for people from Kosovo who make a success of themselves, because it was the same when I came across footballers Lira Bajramaj and Kosovare Asllani. Although, to be fair, they were two of the best women’s footballers in Europe at the time, so it was only natural to admire them! ;)

But, this is getting away from music, so I’ll shut up now.
