Maybe not a gold medal, but IIRC she won the Michelle Kwan Trophy two years ago.Maybe, but popularity doesn't win you gold medals.

OK, now this post I can agree with.
I just wish she would simply say she's not going to Nats and not leave everyone wondering. This is the same thing I really disliked about Kwan.

Kwan always wanted to skate at Nationals (if she was physically able) and Worlds, there was never any question of that. It was the GP and future Olympics that she was unwilling to commit to. In both cases, her hip injury was very likely the reason why she wouldn't commit.
Looks like I'll have the same beef with Cohen. Like I said already I will assume she's not going to be there unless she makes an announcement to the contrary.
I think Kwan was basing it on her serious hip injury. Cohen is basing it on an acting career. I hope her career takes off soon because her silver medal popularity will only take her so far, just ask OGM Tara Lipinski. Her OGM didn't catapult her into Hollywood stardom.

I think this all but confirms that she won't be at Nationals (not a shock to me)
http://www.usatoday.com/sports/olympics/winter/2006-12-10-marshalls-challenge_x.htm?POE=SPOISVAIf Cohen does compete at nationals, she'll have to raise the difficulty of her routine from two jumps to seven for her free skate.
"I remember where I was in this event last year and I was not in good shape," Cohen said. "I was just making new programs, I was injured. And I got ready within a month. So I know how to get ready, that's not a problem."
The 2007 national championships will take place Jan. 21-28 in Spokane, Wash., and Cohen said she planned to decide soon on whether to attend.
Jaana, I thought Sasha did a wonderful job too. She is just exquisite in her positions. I thoroughly enjoyed her performances today. I am not as sure as everyone else is about Nationals, I only hope she goes but if she doesn't it's her choice. I loved her WSS costume. So far I have seen only the Sasha WSS clip, and I was veeeery impessed indeed. What a great choreography to the music and she performed her programme with joy and feeling, and what a dancer she is, WOW. I also think that her jumps looked good.
According to this, Sasha's movie Moondance Alexander with Don Johnson is due out in 2007. I don't know if it will be released to theaters or what.

I'm sure the USFSA is somewhat worried. Their most popular female is clearly not returning and the up and coming ladies don't seem to be catching the fans. Right now their most popular current skater is obviously Johnny Weir.![]()
