Deniss Vasiljevs

His hair doesn't look that bad! It's artfully messy ;)

His fashion sense OTOH is a disaster, even if he's trying not to burn to death like everyone else in this heatwave. :dbana:

Agree. His hair is not the weakest point in these photos ;)
But when there is some +30C people just want to survive, no matter how they look like. So, taking it into consideration, I'd say the striped polo shirt and flowery trousers are quite avant-garde :cool14:.

-------EDIT------------
I went through the photos once more and found that:
1. those were bermudas, not trousers (what is less avant-garde )
2. Deniss hair was to help him in pretending to be taller than Koshiro ;).

Wait, seriously? Goodness, Koshiro is a giant! I thought he looked really tall already, didn't realise he's taller than Deniss now! Well... actually that's good news, since if Koshiro is 174cm according to his last JSF profile, Deniss is indeed 173 and hasn't gotten any taller.

It's something misterious with skaters' height :scratch2:. Javi and Dima are 173 according to their ISU bios. In their joint photo from Euros Deniss and Javi are of the same height - but Dima is slightly taller.
On the other hand Stephane is 175 (still according to ISU bio) while I'm quite sure Deniss is of the same height or even taller. As to Koshiro - still I'm quite sure he's of the same height with Deniss.

I was 19 when my height was measured for the last time so I used to state that number as my height. After years I realized that I'm actually at least 2-3 cm taller... So I'm afraid Deniss can reach 175 or more... ;)

Photo with Koshiro, Luke Digby and Deniss - and it still looks like to me that Koshiro is taller. However you are right; some people can keep growing into their 20s. But I think Deniss should be over the big growth spurts by now. In any case Luke towers over both of them

Thicker soles :p

Absolutely. No way he's 180 some day ;)

In any case Luke towers over both of them
Luke very probably will be as tall as Roman Sadovsky and Conrad Orzel. But look at the photo from Champery: boys are tall enough to make Stephane the shortest of them

Schedule for Japan Open has been announced. How about waking up at 5:30 Saturday morning and trying to catch a livestream? Don't know what's wrong with evening events...:disapp: (but probably the ice show will be in the evening so why we (we, Europeans) must repeat last Oly's experience)...

I don't want to multiply my posts, but I'm leaving for holidays early morning... while

THERE IS DENISS' BIRTHDAY today :hb::party2::party2:

Happy birthday! Wonderful last teen year! May all your dreams come true!

Oho, yes, 4:30am start here I come ... or it would be, if this event wasn't tape delayed! :dance2:
The TV broadcast is usually a couple hours after the real event ends, although there might be people at the venue giving live updates. So we can all get our forty winks in beforehand ;)

Happy happy birthday to Deniss! I hope he eats something good today, and maybe announces information on his programs!!!

There have been lots of beautiful birthday messages for Deniss today on social media, but I have to share this:

A dedicated fan has created a comprehensive blog archive of all Deniss's programs, articles, interviews and translations! What a a lot of work that must have been, to put everything together - and a wonderful way to commemorate his birthday!

A glimpse of a new program?! https://www.instagram.com/sdolan3/ (saved here)
What a shame, that there is no sound. :sad4:

Sarah Dolan is another contemporary dancer and choreographer, that has previously choreographed for Art on Ice. I am evermore curious about how Deniss's programs are shaping up...but I think it is safe to say there will be elements of contemporary dance ;)
