After Marshall's, What impressions do you have of Sasha Cohen??

Yes she did. Shiz might have retired from competition but not from training
and skating so it is no suprise that her tech level is excellent. Since her win in Turin she has been skating in a number of shows in Japan and in Europe.
Sasha has been doing other things this season besides skating so of course her tech level is somewhat lacking.
I enjoyed all the skaters at Marshalls. It was a good show. JMO

Shizuka's 'people' i.e., management team, are very interested in Shizuka continuing to compete, but her mind seems set not to. Her technical level is still so high that they obviously realize she could still present quite a challenge to the current field...and having the World Championships in her home nation of Japan certainly would blow the ratings through the roof in that country if she took the ice as a competitor. I don't think she will - but we'll definitely see a lot of her throughout the World Championships programming....or at least Japanese audiences will.
I thought Sasha delivered the best peformance of the night with GBA. I did thoroughly enjoy Evan's Ava Maria, I/B's Mandy, Emily's Proud Mary and Johnny's Swan SP.
To get back O/T about Sasha...I did not get WSS. Why was she on her toes at the beginning? I agreed with Peggy that Sasha needed to bring her acting to that program. It was basically the same as the last few exhibitions she has done-very predicatable with what elements she will include, as well as the same dependable for Sasha jumps. (For all the grief Michelle has gotten over the years, "same program, different music", well that was VERY obvious if you compared Sasha's two skates, as well as her DROMP exhibition, etc.)
I doubt Sasha will be at Nationals. She'll finish no lower than 2nd even if she debuts brand new programs. One thing was obvious yesterday-her lines, spins and spirals are still high class, even when not at the best Sasha can do. Worlds are another story. If Sasha were to continue as she's been heading towards Worlds, I'd say she'd have a tough time. But if she buckles down and throws herself back into competitive training, she will be in the mix.

I believe she is under contract with Marchalls and I think we will see her in April.
Like Kwan she may be forced to skate the Nats and Worlds as part of the contract.

Hi Dee - I only have my own information about Caroline. I am fortunate to have a good pension which I carefully use to take in some ballet and opera as well as the Mets. As they say, if you can afford it, New York City is the best place to retire (and go south for the winter). Instead of going South I go to figure skating venues. Silly sport to keep this in the winter.
I do go to US Nats religiously. Last year in St. Louis I watched Junior Girls.(or is it Ladies?). I'm enough of a fan of figure skating to watch lower tiers and enjoy spotting talent. To my surprise someone nudge me and said you have to look at this one (Caroline) when she was announced to skate. Wow, there were only doubles but the skate was so impressive. I don't need quads and 3As to really enjoy a good skate, but Caroline went beyond the Cop. She didn't place well, but then what do I care when I see someone reeeeaaaalllly special. Of course there were people in the stands who said she has- no triples, but in one year she did and combos. I reported on Golden Skate, but no one really took notice because you normally don't see Juniors on TV but those present in St. Louis knew what I was talking about.
Now we got Youtube and Icenet for total fans of figure skating, not that you will see great skating but that you will see the up-and-comers.

Piel and Dee - I have a strong feeling that Terry Gannon will announce on TV the following: Before we get to the competitions I think we should look at this Junior Lady's free skate who btw, came in first.

My thoughts exactly. Except that I have seen Caroline and I still don't get the hype.
I just saw that clip that Joesitz provided. Yes, she certainly has impressive talent (unusual for someone so young??) but that tells me nothing about what she's going to be like once she gets to the top level. Also, as someone else said she still has to go through puberty, and that alone can be a killer. But I'll still believe it when I see it- AT the senior level. I'm not going to buy into the "Future of US Skating" hype. Wasn't Cohen dubbed that...then Meissner? Somehow Meissner has lived up to her hype, let's see if Caroline can live up to hers (yikes! Don't wish that on anyone.)

ACTUALLY.....LOL....and I hate to correct the Mathman when it comes to Math....but here's an amazing tip I learned last year that has helped tremendously with Google searches: always put the person's name in quotations OR you will get a very inaccurate search. I.E., "Michelle Kwan" or "Sasha Cohen". When you do it that way you'll see their Google presence drops by about 50%, because it tosses out the mistakes.

With Borat becoming more and more popular (to the point where him and the figure skater are often confused) I would suspect you can throw out 1/3 to 1/2 of "Sasha Cohen" results and discount them to matches for the comedian.
On another forum someone posts nice Sasha Cohen (the figure skater) pics and some of the other posters always remark that they thought it was a Borat thread, lol. I think the proper spelling is "Sacha" but I think a few people also just say "Sasha" since I think they're the same word but in a different language (?) I notice over in parts of Europe they also call the figure skater "Sacha".
