Not sure if this what your looking for and I can’t open up the Calendar of events provided in that thread.
Yes that's the one! Thank you!!
So it's after the first 2 JGP and at roughly the same time as the 3rd. I know the Fed probably won't do this but I think it could be a very good option for deciding who the last 2 JGP spots go to.
WARNING: Long post full of my (hopefully not too, too biased) personal opinions and feeling.
To me (just based off test skates) Trusova/Shcherbakova/Kostornaia, are looking good and should keep their spots, Sisnitsyna should definitely be given one, and Tarusina/Kanysheva also have maintained their consistency (which is what got them spots in the first place) so they should probably also be allowed to keep their spots.
This would mean.
(22–25) JGP1: Shcherbakova/Tarusina
(29–01) JGP2: Kostornaya/Sinitsyna (replacing Gubanova who was unable to show her programs)
(05–08) JGP3: Trusova/Kanysheva
- this layout also has the benefit of pairing up very consistent skaters (Tarusina/Kostornaya/Kanysheva) with the skaters who are going for the riskier layouts (Scherbakova/Sinitsyna/Trusova)
Then we would have the Moscow Open on the 3rd-6th which could be treated as a trial stage for the next two spots
The main contenders at Moscow Open would then be (imho),
1. Gubanova (who - for reasons unknown -was unable to skate at test skates),
2. Tarakanova (who was clearly not ready/ was far below her usual level at test skates),
3. Vasilieva (who was cleanish but who needs to prove consistency).
(I honestly think this would be the fairest way to deal with the current situation, it avoids punishing Gubanova for something that may very well be outside of her control and gives her a chance to prove herself. It also gives Tarakanova longer to get ready, gives Vasilieva a chance to prove she is now able to skate clean on more than one occasion,
and gives an opportunity to any potential surprises that missed out on an invite to test skates)
The results from Moscow Open would probably be too late to determine assignments for JGP4 given it's in Canada so I would send the two best finishers from JGP1+JGP2 there (for arguments sake lets say this is Shcherbakvoa and Kostornaya).
(12–15) JGP4: Shcherbakova/Kostornaya
Then at JGP5 you could have the best two of Gubanova/Tarakanova/Vasilieva (again lets say this is Gubanova and Tarakanova)
(26–29) JGP5: Gubanova/Tarakanova
JGP6 would be the winner of JGP3 (probably Trusova) and the best ranked of the non gold medals girls from JGP1-3 (let's say Sinitsyna)
(03–06) JGP6: Trusova/Sinitsyna
JGP7 would be the two best ranked of the remaining girls without a second spot (probably the winner of JGP5 and a silver medalist).
(10–13) JGP7: (insert your two favourites here!).
That would give six girls a shot at the JGPF, AND reward the girls who did well at test skates without overly punishing the girls who did not.
