2018-2019 GP Assignments

Seriously, SA, Chartrand? I have my ticket, and I want Eunsoo. (Nothing against Alaine--who I hope will make the Canadian World team this year if Osmond doesn't skate--but this is padding the field & we all know it).

Yeah I’m pissed at SA for snubbing both Junhwan and Eunsoo.:/ Both at the tops of the replacement lists, popular enough, and train in North America.

And can beat American skaters... but anyway.

A more charitable theory is that by inviting extra Canadians they might be able to drew some Canadians south of the border to attend... i am going to try really hard to believe that theory instead. Even if Ensoo and Junhwan would have done the same thing

I know he missed most of last season, but I'm guessing Junhwan hasn't gotten a second assignment yet since they know he could potentially beat their home skaters. oh well..

and same with Eunsoo :(
I don't know, it feels a bit cowardly to me. if the home skaters are good enough, it won't matter what other skaters are invited.

FWIW, Kevin trains in Vancouver, B.C., so the travel costs would be lower (since we're talking a 3-hour drive vs. a plane flight). And in theory that could attract more Canadians from BC to attend.

But yeah, that doesn't explain Alaine over Eunsoo since it's a much shorter (and cheaper) trip for the later.

Do Eunsoo/Junhwan still have a shot at a second spot? Looks like Junhwan has a chance to get the Finland spot and Eunsoo too?

They do! They are both top of the replacement lists for any available spots.

At this point though they’ve both been skipped over more than once.

I'm hoping that Jun Hwan will pick up the Finland spot. After all Yuzu's going there, so Brian was going there already!

Reynolds and Chartrand replace Jorik and Rajcova at Skate America

Rajcova's former Finnish spot is now labeled as TBD (FIN)

No Jun? Ah well, I know he's a threat but come on. So not fair.
Not that it surprises me, considering that entire SA line up :sarcasm:

I am still disappoint. Not disappointed, but disappoint.

I’m not sure if they are going to actually put a replacement in that spot...

Hence my being disappoint. The hits you expect to take hurt less than the ones you don’t see coming. Still, it’s ... frustrating to think there may be a spot that remains open, because that makes sense and is totally the best use of an opening. >.<

My point, it won´t be any good to not to use RC spot. Another skater that at this moment doesn´t have or only have one GP could take it. They can find another kind of way to remember Denis.

I agree. And while I can't speak for Denis, obviously, but I think he'd want someone to get a chance to skate.

I'm torn. I don't want the spot to be filled as a tribute to Denis, but I do know that he would have wanted to give someone else the chance to skate.

The Skate America field is quite competitive. Three skaters have Seasons Best scores in the 190s and five (including Bradie Tennell of the US) have SBs over 200. Eunsoo Lim's SB is 185.

Bradie also happens to be one of the seeded skaters in the field. The other seed is Satoko Miyahara.
