Ladies LP

I just watched Mao's and Yu Na's skates and noticed that Yu Na does Sandhu's butt-spin (or whatever it is called) for a few revolutions.... it looks very pretty on her! But why does that girl never look happy? I think that is why overall I prefer Mao. She looks like a happy kid, as she should at that age. Yu Na has the look of an imprisoned princess waiting to be freed. As much as I admire her skating, and I totally do, I don't enjoy watching her.

I wonder what happened to Mao? She seemed to come back nicely from her first fall with a good spirit but it happened again. Is she coming down with flu too?

There was an article that came out last year written by Korean press that talked about Yu Na not liking skating. She does it because she is asked to, not because she wants to. Of course, that could all change (and I hope it does...)

What happened to Mao, the next World Champion that's going to dominate figure skating for the next 4years? She better get that 3axel down, or she won't be the next OGM!!!!!!

 We've now got Yu-na in the house!!!!

But never count anybody out. I know I won't be.

(Except for maybe Kimmie Meissner. ;) )

Did you watch them on Youbtube? I'm not seeing any of the long programs on there yet.

Go Fumie at 25 yrs old.: She has this thing about 2nd and 4th but I have faith and the gold is coming soon.

yeay Fumie! :) yeah it's not gold, but of the three from Japan she came out on top, good for her!

Wow, I just got home. I thought I was seeing things looking at the results. Good for Sarah. I love her program this year. Does anyone know if Sarah tried her triple triple?

Poor Mao, she spends all her time running in behind the music.

I love the Czardas but maybe she should choose a slower arrangement, like the one used by Katarina in 84, or the one Chris Bowman used in 88.

The jumps are soooooo beautiful. She is one of the few skaters I've seen who can travel distance in the air with her jumps. It's not just up and down but up up and away before down.

Spin positons could be better. Flow is gorgeous and I also notice a bit of body language - another one of my nitpicks on almost all skaters. She needs a bit of facial expression, a better turn out in arabesques, and a desire to win (which I think is lacking.)

Definitely in the top category. Check out that first jump and notice the distance she is in the air!!

She took a long time to set up for the SP. Was she nervous? What are they saying? She's pleasant overall.

Yu Na said she once felt like giving up skating due to injuries and boot problems.
But she never said she did not like skating. Did you see those tapes around her waist? Even with the serious back pain, she did her best and won the Final!
Anyway, Congrats for Yu Na!!!

I think she is even more amazing now. So many injuries at such a young age and able to conquer them all. AMAZING!!!!

She does have the most exquisite triple-triple among female skaters. So much flow and easy easy. Not a lot of male skaters' 3-3 are as good as hers.

I think the only thing that could stand in Yu-na's way is her nagging injuries. That's never really a good sign because while she may be able to manage them now, later on it may come back to bite her. Just like many other skaters...and athletes in general...

Now that's a shake-up between short and long programs. Sounds like Asada was fortunate to stay on the podium and Ando had a really tough outing. Good for Meier. She's looking more and more like a legitimate world medal contender.

I guess Asada fell because there are pictures of her falling on the Gettyimages site. I don't know if she fell once or twice, though
