Evgenia Medvedeva

Not necessarily weight. She looks more toned and muscular with less proportional body fat.

Muscles weigh more, but the training may give her a bit more of younger looking physique and face.

Yes, I think she has added a little more muscle than she used to have, and said maybe during the off-season that she added a little bit of weight, but not too much. So I'd say she's healthy with maybe different muscle/fat ratio, and there probably isn't anything to worry about at this time.

And something else I noticed a while ago that's not related to the current discussion, but Zhenya tends to coordinate her hair ties and such with her costume. Here she has something white and lacy pinned around her bun to match the detailing on her dress, and here her hair ties are light blue. Isn't that adorable? I just love her. I want her to be happy and win everything.

Joining you guys here (in this lovely positive fanfest) to say that I’m also sooo excited to see videos of Zhenya at the test skates. I can’t wait to see everyone’s programs of course, but especially Zhenya given her big changes this summer. I really hope the SP gets filmed somehow because I love jazzy programs and that’s the one I’m most excited for, but I’m looking forward to her tango too. And I can’t really explain why, but all this new content of Brian and David being in Russia and supporting her just makes me really happy :luv17:

Welcome! <3

Brian's interview in Moscow https://www.sports.ru/figure-skating/1066741747.html
It seems the whole team is excited to show us what they've been working on all summer. :hap85:
I will wait for someone to post a trustworthy translation cause i've read it with google translate. I think i did get the most important things tho. He thinks she has improved since she moved there, she's really hardworking and opened to new things and he's working with her as an adult unlike her precedent team (lol). The programs they'll show in Moscow could be changed later in the season whether it's the jumps or the choreography itself.

I don't have time to translate, sadly, but Brian is very excited and said that "as a coach [he] is absolutely in love with Zhenya".

To summarize:

He seems very excited and satisfied. He says Zhenya is a perfectionist but that he's okay with her making mistakes at test skates\this early in the seasons, and that he was stunned by how good her training was in Novogorsk despite the jet lag. He says the layout may change from the test skates as the season progresses and Zhenya gets stronger, which is what they're used to doing with all the TCC skater.

He also says that her programs are beautiful and that everyone loved them, and that David and Sandra loved working with her, and that he admires Zhenya for making audiences fall in love with her. He's asked about Eteri\Alina and confirms that Alina will be at camp only on Friday, he knows there may be a little bit of tension but says they're ready for it and to do their best.

Nice, thanks. google translate did not tell me all that :noshake:
Getting more and more excited to see the programs now. Thanks god i'm home all week-end, i won't miss anything.

Thanks. Orser seems to be really proud of her already [emoji23]

I love this interview! He seems to be so excited about her, it‘s really cute. But we knew that already, I guess. Zhenya‘s probably one of those people you can‘t help but like. Sailor-Zhenya-power!😂

Interesting parts of the interview: "it is clear that at this stade the performances could be imperfect but nobody expects a skater to be perfect in early september. I can see how anxious Zhenya is cause she is a perfectionist by nature but it's a good thing for a skater to be this invested in what they do" (i'm not sure about this bit)

He also says she missed 2 jumps during practice in Novogorsk and he could see that it bothered her... i couldn't get what he was saying next but he talked about her ability to captivate the public and make people who watch her skate love her and that's what made him fall in love with her too.

They seem to have arrived earlier than the other girls taking part in the test skates cause they asked him about the girls from Zhenya's former group and he said they'd only arrive on friday and that it was better that way cause they can get used to the atmosphere until then.

Well i'm glad both David and Brian are there with her if she is nervous (which is understandable).

Well Zhenya turned 18 last winter. I'm sure her body and training endurance has changed since she first went to senior. It's actually what someone else highlighted as their reason for changing coach. The part where he applauds her for doing well despite jet lag is amazing. Russian ladies skaters are just prepared all the time wow! I can't wait to see her programs :)

Just to clarify, he didn't say she missed the jumps, he said they weren't perfect. And even though she was frustrated by that, he himself was impressed how well she did right off despits jetlag.

It will be interesting to know a set of her jumps. ISU removed jumps backloading (-2 points?) and added GOE +5 (+8 points?), so skaters with a larger technical base will receive more points compared to a smaller base and the gap will increase.

I love what Brian says about the audience falling in love with her because her first year as senior I wasn’t impressed. But slowly I fell in love with her and now I regularly stalk this fan fest for info!! She definitely has an IT factor on ice, it’s not as overtly charming as Javi or the kind of dynamism that Yuna had. Evgenia’s energy reminds me actually of Mao Asada- quietly strong and spellbinding. If she develops the kind of floaty skating skills quality of Mao or Pchan I will legitimately cry from happiness

At this stage of the season I think we are all anxious to see the programs but I have to remind myself that this is the beginning of the season, not the middle. Evgenia’s story is just beginning

ETA: Also the fs-gossip new layout (at least on mobile) is horrendous...

+8 points? Max. GOE on a 3F for example is +2,65 vs +2,1 in the old system.
