Evgenia Medvedeva

She shouldn't be so hard on herself, we know the program is not ready yet and, despite the flaws, she did great considering what she'd been through.
She doesn't owe anything to anyone, and we know what she's capable of when in full form.

I like the SP better, mainly because the FS music cut... it's bad. I know this is just my opinion, but the FS music cut is horrible. I could not understand what emotion the music was trying to tell, or what theme or story the first piece of screechy violin sounds were...

(..) Am I the only one confused by the first piece of music chosen?

Same here. music was weirdish for me. Doesn't even compare to the SP

Translation of Brian's thoughts about her performance today! he's positive and encouraging as usual.

"It wasn't the best free program. It was even not quite a program. But it was an interesting experience. In general it was a good week, we've received positive feedback. Practice sessions also went ok.
I'm satisfied with everything but the skate, but we'll leave that behind.
When I found out we'll be performing in Megasport in front of many fans I knew it was going to be tough. There is pressure at the beginning of the season, no one is in the best shape.
But it's an experience. Not the best one, but we'll use it, keep working and show the improvements.
The FS is not easy, there's tango. At this part of the season there's not much choreo, but she's already showing diversity; Evgenia performs a playful SP and a difficult FS. It's good that she shows what kind of skater she actually is."

:agree:

Just saw the livestream via instagram. The camera was bad, but I did note a few things.

I'm a bit disappointed in Wilson for choosing a very bizarre music edit. That being said, the Libertango bit was exciting. The program kicked off from there and the step sequence was very unique and beautiful. Intoxicating even. Jumps and skating skills all improved. Choreo was good too overall.

But the music... I guess it's too late to change it.. Am I the only one confused by the first piece of music chosen?

I agree with this. I'm not immediately sold with the FS. I'm very much glad to see Zhenya at all, but as I got about a minute into the video, it dawned on me that... not that much was actually happening. It seems kind of incomplete as a program, and I don't love how only the end has much excitement or energy to it at all. The step sequence was great though, and I'm glad that 2a-2t-2t got dropped.

But I think the thing is that I don't have to adore this program now. It won't be the same as it is now when we see it in competition, I'm sure.

i LOVE mumuki, my fav piece of her music this season, it just needs more package i think, yes david gimme transitions, more of them  it's not 2010 anymore #teammumuki
aand there is no chsq at this moment, am I right..?

Edit :Never mind, I figured out how to do it.
Always a pleasure to see Zhenya with a big smile, no matter how small the problems with this return to the ice.

I know it's too early to make judgments, but its 2A if it looks better and even got a better distance in it! In her Fs I could notice it, since the video of the SP is in very low quality and it is difficult for me to notice her feet.

Her SP look so funI liked the choreo , I also think that they removed the Layback to prevent any further injury, there is also no Ina Bauer, Orser mentioned at the beginning that Zhenya had small injuries and pain in her back. It'ss very good to let her rest. can also get a level 4 without Biellmann, but, I think she can add them in the middle of the season. The same with entries, exits, transitions, people forget that this is just a test, and the programs are always adjusted.

I noticed that she was a little nervous. I love the music of her FS, I would like her to increase her speed in the stpsq, if she works on her stamina she can achieve it, that would be an extra drama effect, I have always loved the deep and fast stsq, Mao Asada's style :drama:. The good thing is that she keeps skating a lot on one foot, there is no excess of crossover, the turns and steps are deep, so level 4 is assured in that.
About the jumps, I think they plan to go for the 3F-3Lo combo, but they need to make it stable, for the moment the 3Ltz, 2A, 3F-3T are a good option to increase her BV in SP, She should only try to do minus a 3Ltz (!), if she land it, rotate it completely and also add a difficult entry / exit in it, she could have GOE positive with a (!), you know that the calculation of the GOE is how to add and subtract numbers from the set Z + -.

I look forward to the Autumn Classic and see the dresses ,we believe in you, and we love you, Zhenya, gives your best!:hap10:

A new interview came out after test skates:

Google translate:
Evgeniya Medvedeva, who flew from Canada to participate in the control rentals of the Russian team, shared her impressions of her programs and told about her readiness for the season.
"From the free program, disgusting feelings, because everything went, to put it mildly, not at all according to plan," Eugenia said immediately after the rental. "That's why I'd rather not talk about rental, but in general the impressions are just excellent, because I'm at home."

Medvedeva admitted that today she did not show everything on the ice, which she is capable of.
"Now I gained back 20% of what I can, even less - at 15. I understand this perfectly," explained the athlete. "To say what happened ... It would be silly to say any reason, because there should be no justification, but this is the beginning of the season. Brian and I work intensively for a month and a half after four months of rest. My head was off, I confess.
But the impressions are excellent, because, it seems to me, I was the only one supported, I was expected, and I feel it. This is incredibly cool, "- shared the impressions of Medvedev.
Also, Eugenia described how her adaptation is taking place in Canada.
"In general, this off-season was the most difficult period in my life: I had to make difficult decisions, I had to get used to it. Yes, I still can not say that I'm used to it. After all, I'm a Russian person, I probably will never get used to the Canadian culture. In my life, I changed everything - from the language I mostly speak to, ending with the food I eat every day. It's difficult to rebuild yourself. "

Eugenia told what they are currently working on with Brian Orser.
"We are now very intensively engaged in the restoration of my health in general. Come to Canada - another step will go: the strengthening of the body. Everything goes according to plan. The only thing: my rental went not according to plan, we will fix it, everything will be fine.

In the end, the sportswoman admitted that the support of spectators and fans is very important for her.
I hope you'll be rooting for me on "Autumn Classics", I need your support. Yesterday I skated well, today it was more difficult, because for the first time in a long time I go out on such a big arena. But I'm generally very glad that I'm here now. I just got off the ice, I was seen off with screams and applause, even for the most terrible hire, they shouted to me, "Bravo!"

This is why I am such a fan of Evgenia!! She does not make excuses and she does not do the blame game. She is so mature!!

I have watched her free skate 3 times now and I can say I like it and it has lots of potential!

I am not crazy about the cut of music between when she falls on her Triple Flip and when Libertango starts.

I also would recommend they consult a tango instructor to help with styling, positions and to figure out the story she is telling. She has it all in her, it just needs to come out. I know it will.

I‘m so glad for this interview. Brian basically confirmed that there will be changes, that this isn‘t the final layout. They will be experimenting over the season, add transitions to the program and so on. His statement ”it was not even quite a program“ strangely assures me the most. This means that they are working on the choreography of the FS. We shouldn‘t forget that she barely had two months to work out both programs after a 4 months break from jumping. She’s focusing on her health and I‘m absolutely fine with that. They will work on the FS and make it more of a tango. Zhenya has never had two such different programs, she needs time to figure them out and embrace them. I‘m sure she‘ll rock it later in the season! :hap10:

Is there any chance to see Zhenya‘s performance from Autumnn Skates? Will there be videos on Youtube afterwards?

I haven't been able to watch any of the FPs yet. I'm dying out here! The curiosity is killing me. Loved the SP though, it's very charminh.
