Elizaveta Tuktamysheva

Liza is amazing. I love how she's not afraid to speak out and stand up for herself (and others). Good luck tomorrow at Lombardia!

Liza giving us one more reason to love her!
Seriously, her personality is everything! Not afraid to speak her mind, stands up for others, smart, funny, confident. What a beautiful woman!
Wishing her a great season!

So glad to see Liza stand up for herself and the other Russian ladies against TSL's comments about their weights and eating habits. Much of what they said was totally inappropriate, uncalled for, and totally off base in my opinion, and good for Liza for not letting them just get away with it.

She is a lively, athletic, and talented skater who is wonderful just as she is, and good riddance to a couple of armchair commentators who say otherwise.

I don't think a lot of people understood Doug's comments correctly.
He did NOT say that she's fat and need to loose a few pounds.
He said that should she loose a few pounds, her PCS will go up - because that's what the judges prefer.
Is he right? Probably.
Is it PC to say so? No.

I don't think he was trying to be deliberately malicious. I would never presume to know more than someone like Doug on what could potentially help a skater gain PCS points, but I don't think that it was right of him to share that opinion so publicly. I feel like TSL has a habit of treating skaters like they aren't actually real people who are more than likely going to find out about the things being said about them. It just felt really gross to me to watch three men discuss female athletes' bodies like it was the sum of their worth.

Awww they make such a cute couple! :luv17: And it was really interesting hearing about their programs and how they were made.

Thanks so much for translating the interview, dante!

And they've been together for so long! If not mistaken, for about 5-6 years already?

Exactly. There is difference between your coach telling you should lose weight in order to get higher PCS to look lighter and apparently more graceful, or to say it out loud in the video interview intended for general figure skating fans. It is unethical. If he really thinks so and wishes her to gain higher PCS, he could have told it to Mishin in person, for example.

Congrats to Liza on a solid start into the season! Shame about the fall, but still. I like her program and I like the uncoventionally laid-back costume. Very Liza.

I don't think it was a costume.

Anyways, good to see her back. Hopefully, we will get to see her at the Europeans and Worlds.

It might very well be practice clothes - but she wore the same outfit for the short in the test skates, and she did say in her live that one costume would be white, which has me a bit unsure? Anyway, we'll see - and if men can turn up in shirt + trousers, and call it a "costume", why can't she?;)

Also, Liza on twitter:

Tried a new combination today: toe loop + toe layop

Okay, second attempt to congratulate Liza since my first one was too competition-centric, apparently. :(
Happy for Liza on her great result in the SP, and good luck in her free! There. :)

Well done, Liza! Congrats to the first victory of the season! My number 1 candidate for Russia's 3rd spot for Worlds and Euros.

Her performance was a standout today. It was so much fun. I really want her on Russian team now. She would bring something different to the mix. And I gotta admire she stuck around despite everything, endured and came back.

Liza, I'm your fan again. Love your sassy tweets and I loved your program today!

Finally a program that fits her style. Interpretation, composition and performance were top-notch (transitions will never be her best friend though)! I was also pleasantly surprised by the last combo spin! Very well centered, nice speed!

Judge No. 6 belongs to jail. He gave a +1 for her Lutz and only a +2 for her perfect 2A-3T and 3Lo.

With Alina and Zhenya obviously struggling, will Liza be the underdog this season?

72,30 technically is also a remarkable score since she left lots of points on the table: step out on the 3A, 3Lz-2T instead of 3T, no 3F yet.
