Sasha Cohen behaviour in past, is it true?

Well that's probably because you're just to busy looking for people who don't like Ms. Cohen to bother reading the rest of what gets posted :rolleye: There are a lot of skaters that I like. Carolina Kostner, Kimmie Meissner, Irina Slutskaya, Michelle Kwan, and Shizuka Arakawa to name a few of my favorites. I also enjoy just about every lady on the Japanese team right now,
Thanks for answering my question. Well, I do read lots of people's posts but it seems like you're always looking for a way to take mean jabs at Sasha. Why would you even post in one of her threads if you don't like her. I think that's were the difference comes in. It was like someone else saying all of her programs were snoozers but will watch her programs.......I guess that doesn't make sense to me. :rolleye: :rolleye: :rolleye: :rolleye:

Isn't Arina just as competent with jumps as Alyssa Czisny? I dont think her jump skills are impressive enough to insure a successful skating career.

Arina isn't quite consistent with her jumps in competition yet, but when she does land them they are quite nice. Also, she has a nice musicality about her that does not seem at all forced or unnatural, which is what I really like about her. She's a good contrast to Irina Slutskaya and Elena Sokolova who I think of as primarily jumpers.

:rolleye: I must agree (!) with DD here.

Sounds like someone didn't read my original post carefully enough. I said that AFTER she went to Tarasova her programs got zzzzz. I think some folks will stop at nothing to make me out to be the "bad" guy.

Here's my post again:

I was watching her Olympic free from 2002 and she had this sort of fire and feistiness (sp?) that simply disappeared, I think, when she went to Tarasova. Then her competitive programs after that were a serious snoozefest. Swan Lake? R & J? GMAB.

(emphasis added)

Of course, if it's a genuine mistake, I apologize for this possible overreaction.

No, some people are just too hyper-sensitive over Sasha and won't allow anyone to express their opinions without jumping all over them.

A little late.... I recall that John Nicks has mentioned Sasha's stubborness in the past. It's probably one of the reasons why she left him - because they were butting heads.

Based upon the Artunian interview, Russian coaches are accustomed to absolute say over all matters related to their skaters. So, I can only imagine the horns locking between Tarasova and Sasha.

When Sasha went back to Nicks, she had matured a bit and he had mellowed a bit (actually, he had retired.) So, now, it works for them - even though it might not be what Sasha really needs to reach her full potential.

I agree, and that's basically all the Cohen drama summed up very nicely.

Grgranny sure gets upset when people start arguing. Let it be.
Life is too short to argue.

Is this thread really necessary?

NO, NO, NO !!

Omage to the skating god :

Oh, please skating god, give us the strength to think of the future of skating and leave to rest the memories and hopes for skaters which we wished could have won the championship(s).

Bygones be bygones.

In case this is NEWS for some of you Sasha is not skating in 2007.

Move on.............

But Emily is, and I started a thread on her with a nice funny video, and no replies...folks would rather discuss this

My turn...
Last summer at the COI performance in San Francisco, I noticed some Sasha behavior that gave some credence to the "spoiled brat" reports that I'd been hearing for years.
When Shizuka came out to skate, Sasha (the next performer) watched from the skater's entrance, visible to the entire audience. When Tanith & Ben had done this for Evan's performance, it was obvious that they stayed to watch Evan perform, because they paid polite attention. Sasha did not afford Shizuka that courtesy. She spent Shizuka's entire performance walking back and forth, stretching, blowing her nose - paying absolutely no attention to what was happening on the ice. It was obvious enough that I was distracted, and I'm sure that I wasn't the only member of the audience who felt this way.
I don't want to speculate on what's was or wasn't going on in Sasha's head that day, but I felt that her behavior was extremely rude, both to Shizuka and to the audience.
Just my two cents.

The next performer does stand in the 'wings', ready to take the ice when the current performer takes bows and the lights go out. But it is true that most of the 'wings' performers stand quietly and wait for their turn and do not call attention to themselves. Fortunately, the 'wings' can be seen by only the audience members sitting in that area, so Sasha's antics wouldn't have been seen by most of the audience.

Happy New Year, Chuck!
My seat was at center ice and she was perfectly visible - and really distracting, which irritated me as I'd paid nearly $100 to see the show and wanted very much to see Shizuka.
Of course I can't speak for the rest of the audience.

I agree, that Saha is a bad and mean girl. One time, a friend of a friend of a particular friend's friend saw Sasha pull on Michelle's dogs' ears, take a bone from it and stick her tongue out at the dog while nobody was watching. naughty, naughty Sasha.

Ya know... While I am always amused at Sasha's antics on & off the ice (her interview with Peter C. is my absolute fave...) I'd like to interject another experience here...

At the 03 COI show in Detroit, I watched another skater doing this prior to their skate while another skater was performing... she was stretching out, talking to those around her & yes, blowing her nose... Heck, she actually had the gall to step onto the ice in the shadows & skate in circles to warm up her legs! Guess who it was... Michelle Kwan. I assumed it was more the casual prep skaters take before taking the ice than blatant disrespect. But then what do I know??

I think we might want to give Sasha a break...
