Jason Brown

Thanks for wearing the orange shirt, Jason, while everyone else had on black! I didn't lose sight of you once on the ice. :)

Is it just me or did Jason jump a quad in practice?

Quad sal. It wasn’t a bad attempt! Too far to tell about rotations, but was he trolling us?! I mean it’s not World-peak status, but the way he talked I was expecting like errors on al his jumps.

The 3As looked great in the program. Sounds like they’re aiming for two 4S eventually, since he did a 3S here. But I’ll miss his 1l-3S combo...

And I like the FS! It’s not super angsty but introspective.

That's what I thought! I was fully expecting falls and pops galore and we got pristine Axels and a pretty decent quad attempt

It did not look like a downgrade to me, I think it was UR at worst but it was too far. I just popped in to say the 3As look fab, and overall he looks in good shape to me.
I think I'm going to like the FS but I need to see the full thing. Quite introspective indeed.

And a fan cam.

Still can't tell the 4S rotations cause of the video's angle.

Like Zhenya, it's going to take some getting used to the *relative* fewer transitions in Jason's program here. We're so used to Rohene's numerous transitions, that this program looks empty in comparison. There's still lots of good one-foot skating and stuff, but clearly they are putting priority on getting the jumps first clearly.

Jason, you sly dog, I’d thought I’d be seeing you stumble on 2As:laugh:

The beginning is well, original whiny guys with guitars. Who knew Hazy Shade of Winter would be a kickstarter in the program.

But what do you think was supposed to go into where he was skating with his hands in his pockets? I don’t think that’s choreo;)

Hazy Shade of Winter is an upbeat song about struggle. It's Jason personified. :)

That "hands in his pocket" part where he didn't skate to part of his program is probably his camel spin and the ChSq, judging by the part in the end he skated.

He did all the jumps though:
4S
3A-3T
3S
---
3A
3L
3F-2T
3Z-3T-2L

(Of course, he'll only get credit for the last three jumping passes so the second 3A won't be getting the bonus. Still pretty cool he's doing it later in the program though).

Actually I love that the 3Z-3T-2L is the transition to that section -- it's right to the cut. So cool.

And Jason is *seventh* to skate? What brave new world is this, that hath such wonders in it?

Jason looks good. Like really good. I think those are some of the best axels I've seen him do. He is clearly putting in the work. I'm glad they are going for the Sal- the attempt wasn't bad either! It also doesn't have the baggage the quad toe does.

:otopic: I wish I could upvote this 100x for the Tempest quotation!

Thank you:o: but my knowledge of the Bard is not as extensive as it should be. I do know this one, however:)

At least Jason isn't doing the 85th version of R&J.....

I am pleasantly surprised at how good the cuts the three S&G songs are. I honestly was fearing some jarring cuts (especially seeing some of DW's other programs this season), but they are pretty straight forward.

Now to nitpick! It's early and I hope they'll add some choreography -- but Tavi's concern of DW's tendency to not choreograph certain key moments in the music is valid. There are points where he's skating in a circle and not doing much of anything with the music. I certainly support making the programs less complicated so he can hit the jumps early on, but I sure hope they add an extra MIF or something at some of those points as the season goes on.

FYI, Skate Canada will be live-streaming the warm-ups tomorrow morning if you want to get an early look at Jason's SP before the competition.

ETA: Also random question -- I went to the Twitter feed of the Japanese Jason Brown club wondering if she was at ACI, and there was some note from the organizer about saying goodbye or something? What's the deal with that?

Maybe this is a little superficial, but I'm super excited to see Jason's costumes!

(Also does anyone know if the video/livestream from practice is still available?)
