I wonder how much Rika would score if she landed all her jumps in the SP and the FS. I know that being japanese she'll never get sky high pcs scores but i'm curious to see her scores if she keeps performing well all season.

75+ for SP and 150 for FS. if her PCS growing then 77 is possible for SP and 152 maybe for FS

A clean back to back Rika should win all competitions she enters this season as her layout will have Three 3A, Three 3Lz, and Two 3Flip. Also she has the hardest 3-3 aka 3A3T.

But reality she might get docked on the PCS.

Even if she gets the PCS lord knows she deserves she won't be able to compete with Alina's GOE. And if, IF(huuuuuge IF here) Rika skates all clean the whole season and gets super high scores that can "scare" Eteri they'll just make Alina backload her difficult combos. Alina is currently not backloading the 3Lz3Lo combo in the SP and she does not backload the 3Lz3T in the Free, she's backloading the 3F instead which is her strongest jump imo so I agree with it, but if Kihira somehow gets big scores throughout the GP Alina could still widen the gap between her and the rest of the pack. After seeing Alina's and Rika's performances and scores in their first competitions of the season I think the best we can hope for is a #2 in the world position for Rika, which would already be amazing! :agree:

A clean SP(with backloaded 3Lz which I think is the intention but the timing was not right, I'm expecting the bonus for her next competition):

~48 TES + ~33 PCS = ~81

A clean FS:

~85 TES + ~68 PCS= ~153

For a ~238 Total.

If somehow she gets Olympic champ level PCS she could score ~85 in the SP and ~160 in the Free for a Total of ~245 points. :laugh2:

Alina is alredy UR her 3lz3Lo in real time. Backload or not that combo should be scruntized. I think if judges are fair, a clean Rika back to back should win.

Rika has UR issues too, it’s not like all of her jumps are perfectly rotated at all times, not under the new rules where on the quarter does not do anymore. If Alina’s Lo is called, miraculously, then they’ll put Rika’s jumps under a microscope and they will find something.

With that said, Rika is very well rounded. Unfortunately consistency and reputation are key and she needs consistency to win a couple of medals so her reputation will build.

I’ve come to the conclusion this will be a test season for Rika. If she does very well this season then next season could really be hers. It’s a key moment for her because she needs to prove she is at least as good as the Olympic champion to build momentum and a name for herself when the world record breaking Russian juniors become senior next season. She’ll probably need that 4T too otherwise Trusova will be a huge threat if she is still skating as she is now by her senior debut. Rika needs to build her PCS this season. I’d say she needs to improve her SS and performance and whatnot but... Not really. That’s not how PCS works and we all know it. [emoji23] She could just focus on her technical content and keep getting good programs(drop David Wilson forever because he’s a hit or miss!), she should work with Tom Dickson a lot, maybe someday a Shae could make something interesting for her too.

Anyway, this season is very important for Rika and I wish her the best! She’s number one in my heart! ❤️

I LOL'd at Mai Mihara's what-the-eff face as she was doing the English interview after her FS at Nebelhorn, when the interviewer started speaking German to her.

Rika PCS should skyrocket like Alina's last season if she's even semi-consistent, as she's doing the most difficult tech programs ever done by a senior.
But i think that even without sky high PCS, 80+ and 150+ is possible. And that put her at the top of the tops.
The main problem in her beating Alina is not PCS, but GOEs. Alina gets very high GOEs on almost everything she does. Rika can erase the PCS difference with BV, but GOEs will save Alina if she's clean.

This is true, isn't it? Mao did "only" one 3A in her 8 triple programs, while Rika does two 3As, one in combo, and two triple lutzes in combo. Although Mao did attempt a 3F+3Lo, which is much harder than either lutz combo...

Actually, Mao's Sochi and 2007 GPF contents can compete but Rika's two 3As (and 3A-3T) has more weight IMO. Mao did two 3As program too but it was a 6 triples program.

In SP she attempted 3A/3F-3lo/3lz but never did it clean.

Yeah, the 2010 Olympics layout. Didn't mention it because it was a 6-triple program (and didn't contain a 3Lz, either).

I think she should have gone for the 3F+3T at least! Would have been easier to be consistent with it.

Thanks to Tarasova, the worst choice of her life.

The scores at the Nebelhorn trophy (ladies) is definitely quite telling. Despite the changes in the rules, biases will still be there. This was expected but I was honestly quite shock with the winner's score gap early into this season. Don't get me wrong, I support and appreciate the winner. However, I don't support this judging. Judges will give higher GOE and PCS to their 'favourite' skater/federation and give a rather generic/basic or even lower score to everyone else.

It's sad and frustrating and I am sure it is also just as frustrating for the skaters and their coaches from other federations to not receive those GOEs and PCS. Seriously like what do they need to do to get higher PCS or GOEs. Mai even got some 7.75s on her score. Marin got a 6.75 on performance by Judge 2. Seriously? It's like she's being scored as a junior.

But yeah its like the PCS are already decided even before the competition has started. Just sad.

I still hope the Japanese girls will still do their best.

I want just to say that Marin has the most beautiful free program this season so far. IMO.

The judging at Nebelhorn was a BIG joke. There were certain GOEs for skaters that went from -1 to 4 for the same element. I just couldn't take it seriously.

Mai performed great! I hope the season goes well for her. Kaori doesn't look that great at the moment.

I don't want to jinx Rika by having expectations that could be way too high so i'm just going to pray she continues to perform well with consistency. I'd really love to see her go clean or cleanish all season, landing all her jumps and improving her overall performance. Her pcs scores should at least go up if she does although they'd probably never be as high as Eteri girls pcs for example. If so then maybe we can see her be confident enough to upgrade her layout (i'd die if she adds the 4T somewhere in the future).

Congratulations to Nana for two good performances. Just one mistake overall. Sadly she gets too low scores.
I think she will still have a 2nd event. Since fed ditched Moa to give a 2nd event to Yuhana despite her being one place lower, but having an higher score.
