Evgenia Medvedeva

Yes please, post the experience exhibition skate.

:/ I've managed to get about 3 minutes of it together, but there's a section I'm missing. It's after her 3lo, as she's doing a step sequence, a little over 2 minutes in... and the next part that I have is the last minute, starting in the middle of her last spin. Does anyone know where to find it?

Edit: Or should I post it as is? The length that's missing is 17 seconds.

What I don’t understand is how the Russian Figure Skating Fed can spend millions of dollars training these girls, but they don’t spend money getting them nutritional counseling. The coaches can teach these girls how to jump and spin, but they’re not experts on what a growing girl needs nutritionally to be healthy. Instead of telling them to stop putting food in their mouths in order to keep puberty at bay, get expert advice.

Maybe that is the "expert advice" in Russia....:scard7:

With the news coming out about people taking thyroid hormones to stay skinny and stave off puberty, I would not be surprised if these kind of extreme measures are just considered normal steps to take to achieve a desired end effect. Culturally what's thought of as reasonable in Russia for this kind of sport (like rhythmic gymnastics or ballet) may also be very very different from what we normally think of as healthy for an athlete. There certainly seems to be no taboo regarding openly talking about weight or criticizing other people's weights. I remember a rhythmic gymnastics documentary where Viner (basically RG's TAT) flat out said that one of her promising students had gone downhill cuz she couldn't stop eating. In fact the entire documentary was pretty much about how this 14 year old girl had gotten too fat. :palmf:

I've put together Zhenya's "Experience" from various clips. The video quality is a bit low unfortunately. Note that the audio is not equal as I took from different sources to piece it together, and I replaced the section I'm missing with just the audio of the music, so don't be alarmed. Please enjoy.

Bonus rough approximation of the first bit of commentary at the beginning from my minimal knowledge of Japanese:

"Pyeongchang Olympic silver medalist, Evgenia Medvedeva. This program is entirely her idea -- 'Experience'."

I think I posted the one I found on instagram in this thread and another user provided a second instagram page that also posted it. Is it missing on both pages? Because then maybe it can‘t be found at all.

But thanks a lot for this! Your help is really appreciated, even if one small part is missing. I will really enjoy watching this great program as a while again! Thank you! :)

Thanks a lot! :)

Let's keep this FF active, lol 😂

Here are some photos of Zhenya from her fans! (Pantene is her sponsor, but of course you know it 😀)

This is really cool! :luv17: I‘d totally buy this shampoo if Zhenya was advertising it... but people in my country mostly don‘t even know who she is. :palmf:

I must admit I am scared for how Zhenya's scores dropped, unwarrantedly. She actually has already improved SS, flow, and some technique and yet her scores dropped so much. She was almost 40 points behind Alina's score. I know Alina was perfect and Zhenya made some mistakes but I think Evgenia's score should have been and last season would have been, higher. Good luck at GP Zhenya. I love her programs, short especially, and look forward to watching!

Have courage, it was just an early season Challenger Series event.

Neither Brian nor Zhenya expect the first pancake to be the best (as they both say).

If you would like to get further into the nitty-gritty, there discussion thread on Evgenia Medvedeva's 2018-2019 season on the Edge.

And she actually had a very good outing there. The commentator (I think it was Ted) even said it himself. Only one small step-out and a fall. Yes, that‘s “bad“ for Evgenia standard but Zhenya’s standard has never been tested like this season. She knows perfectly well that this performance wasn‘t what it could have been. She knows all her weaknesses. And she‘s ready to work. Her program looks better the more I watch it. There are still times when I think: ”Okay, here‘s enough room for a transition or two instead of two-footed skating“ but I‘m sure the team will look at that and add a bit more to up the PCS score again. She has 30 days to work until SCI.

I think it‘s important to focus on Step sequence levels and spins to get all level 4s and add some small transitions before and after elements. And stay clean. That‘s a lot but if Zhenya manages to at least get the Level 4s and stays clean in Canada, she should be fine. What are her main competitors she‘s facing there ?

I completely agree. Several months ago this thread was full of comments: "I don't expect her winning everything now, at least during the upcomming season, she needs to adapt to a new conditions, environment, training style etc. She aims for longevity."
And now, just after one competition "defeatism is strong in this thread." People, put yourself together, this is it what every reasonable person could (and did) expected. I know sometimes it is hard when people are confronted with the reality (like the moment when the resolution "I will live in the countryside, grow vegetables and not use the products of food industry anymore" meets its consequences) they lose courage. There is no big deal in it, apart from every consequence of the change there are many more factors. There is no rush for immediate results, there is time, season not even started yet. So believe that Zhenya and her new team know what they are doing, right?
And remember that this is someone who was called hater, so be more enthusiastic for her :agree:

I think I wrote it like 5 times already: comparing scores coming from 2 different judging panels is useless. For example tech panel during Nebelhorn was really lenient while judges at ACI almost never turn a blind eye even at least obvious mistakes. Also panel at Nebelhorn was giving pcs points like candies while in Canada I believe even Yuzuru was underscored in this area for his short program.

exactly! & I think it's really good that she went to ACI cause all the weak spots have been shown so now they know where to fix things up

These are scores from different events. Zhenya would score higher at Nebelhorn, imho. And Alina would not be showered in PCS in 9s and GOEs in Canada.

I fully expect her to come out all guns blazing at Skate Canada, skate 2 clean programs, get marked on par with what she's used to, and all this panic and hand wringing would've been for nothing

Just look at the difference between Alina's test skate and Nebelhorn in less than 3 weeks. A whole lot can change in a month early in the season.

Main competitors. Mako and Wakaba. And this will be Tukt's 3rd competition.
